One more thing....

That hypocrite talk is hilarious coming from an Obama supporter.

That pouting assclown has broken so many campaign promises it is funny to me because I didn't care for most of them.

But the silence from the Left is deafening.

And funny as fuck.

NASA decided they would focus on going to Mars

I saw it a few months ago when they made the decision. They couldn't do both they said. It was one or the other.

And they decided it was better idea to go to Mars for various reasons.

There's nothing that stops private companies from investing into space reasearch. Just just stops forcing all americans to pay for it, especially now when unemployment is over 10%. Tell someone whos been out of work and trying to support their family, that space research is a 'good investment' for the future that they should be happy to pay for.
If you are okay with the GOOGLE Moon colony, I am, too.

But with the anti-corporate chatter I hear now, I can only imagine the cacophony of protest were private space exploration to succeed.

Not to mention the threat from a hostile country making it up there and nationalizing a private facility for their own use.

The U.S. would be powerless to stop it.

Now our astronauts are more like tourists. NASA has to buy them tickets for seats on the Russian vehicle. 6 tickets $300+ million ... that's some ride.

Space station.... gone.

Does anyone know what is supposed to replace the shuttle? That is what concerns me, we are really dependant on satellites.

I"m an independent. I love NASA, I like Obama. Congress has never really funded Nasa like they should have. But Nasa has to share some blame too. They always come out with these high ball unrealistic & politically impossible budgets. I'm starting to think they do this intentionally. They'll ask for 20 billion knowing they'll only get 2 billion. They have tons of ideas, most of which I like, but they are like kids in a candy store. They need to focus on a few idea that are worth while and that are realistic.

For example, they are phasing out the shuttle for the aries I rocket. Yet they won't come out and say they want the privet sector to take a bigger role. Even though this is clearly their plan. I really don't trust the private sector, because they don't have the track record for safety. But Nasa can't be playing games. I know their true dream is to tera form mars, but c'mon... right now, it aint going to happen no matter how cool of an idea it is. And the idea of going to mars... waste of time. Even the rocket launch to the moon to find water... what did we learn from it? The moon has more water then we thought. wow. that helps us how? It doesn't answer any fundamental or meaningful questions. Remember, NASA #1 goal is to answer the question of Where did we come from. Water on mars, doesn't answer that question.

Now spirit and opportunity... genius! I give them amazing credit for that. And the idea of sending an astronaut to mars, is cool. But we are at least ten years away from that. They need to focus on robotics for right now. I would love to see a man space flight, but if congress can't even pass a health care, there is no way NASA is going to get the kind of funding it really needs.

I'm guessing that NASA employs a few people. Do you think NASA should be researching climate change because Obama is still funding NASA but for climate change.
climate change is fake/made up.

Thats what happens when you have government funding science, you get the results that they politically want.

Climate change isn't fake. I don't know what rock you've been hiding under. To much fox news i suppose. What's being debated is which gases are causing the most problems. If you watch the news you'd think Carbon is the biggest problem. The reality is that there are a lot of gasses that humans create that are causing problems. On top of that, the sun is in a period were it's generating more sun spots then we've seen for 1,000 years. Republicans are trying to say it's not humans, its the sun.

And okay, lets run with that. Say you make an argument that humans are not the ONLY cause. But you still have to agree we are significantly contributing to it. And at the end of the day, say it turns out that sun spots due play a bigger role then green house gases. Isn't it still smart to cut down emissions? If the sun causes 50% damage, and we cause the other 50%.... the reasoning goes, we can't control the sun, but we can control our own emissions.

nonsense if what you were saying were true then nasa would have had a 8 year period of saying that climate change wasnt real ala GWB.

Actually NASA has just been caught cherry picking weather stations to artificially support MAN made global warming. (big black eye).

Space programs are foundational....many steps need to be taken in the correct order. Canceling a segment of science which has produced so much innovation is ridiculous.

That earmarked money for NASA will be wasted, mark my words. Just like the Billions just flushed down the toilet this year.

It's backward thinking...it's inward thinking.

Where's the vision?

They make it up because they have to.... no one has found any correlation between man and climate change.... not with science anyways.

So the data must be skewed to protect the political front....and that's not science.

No worries, global warming is dead for now, the culprits have been identified, and yes laws were broken.

I guess some people are trying to ignore you lol,,,They continue to bitch about the moon and Obama:clap:

Because no one is going to Mars.... that's why. Moon first, then Mars.... steps....we didn't just go straight to the moon...it took many many flights to get there, each one building on the next.

Mars is not attainable without first getting back to the moon. Putting off the steps is putting off innovation.

That's not the way forward. And leaders are supposed to take us FORWARD, not backward..... but Obama only seems to have one gear ... reverse.
