Hello, and suggestions needed

Update, I just bought of 150 HPS light. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200409978931
And I just got a puppy, so I'm pretty happy today. I'm trying to think of a name for her, but I'm not sure. Suggestions are welcome.
I still haven't painted my grow room yet, but I plan to have that done later today.
Also I'm getting my camera back in a few days, so when I get back I can finally post images about my plants. And the preflowers are really showing up, and is starting to smell. But I don't know why, I haven't put them in a 12/12 lighting cycle yet.

Thanks man!
Okay I've ordered the light, got a puppy, smoked a blunt with someone I've never met before, and had a great time chillin', I've painted my grow. Which is also being converted into a two part grow room. One for seedlings and flowering, wrote like three good songs that I want to put out on my album that I'm making BTW.
I met a fellow arizonan on this site.
And tried to go a job at several places, and I might finally have one now.
So I think I've had a pretty interesting day.
When I get my camera I'll take pics, I've actually got some shit to show now, but for now I'm gonna peace out.

wow....just wow!!! well you have managed to do everything just like me.....totally wrong! on my first grow i was planting like 3-4 seeds a week....all shwagg. had the wrong lighting. over watered them.....under watered them. killed more than the federal government did! but i am happy to report i am on my third grow now. i have about 2 grand invested and 80 plants growing right now. so just keep learning from your mistakes. i will try to help you with what i can right now based on the pics.

1. get them out of those cups and into pots. light on the roots causes ALLLL kinds of problems.
2. get a shitload more lights in there. go to wal-mart and get some CFL's fucking shop lift them if you have to. but get a lot more light in there.
3. lose those blue bulbs they are a gimmick.
4. good job painting the room. poster board would have worked too.
5. when you transplant the plants put dirt all the way up to the bottom leaves. keeps them from getting leggy. they will not be able to handle the weight of the bud (if they do) with those long ass stems.
6. get the lights as close as possible. thats why they are stretching so bad.
7. go easy on the nutes and get them set on a watering schedule. dont just wing it. buy a meter at lowes for 6 bucks and you will know for sure.
8. those bugs are just house knats, get some fly strips and put them around the pots. keep the water tray at the bottom of your pot dry and they will slow down a little bit. also sand on the top of the soil and wet it and they wont be able to lay eggs in your soil. they are of no harm to your plants but they are a fucking pain in the ass. and if you dont get a handle on it there will be a fucking million of them. can't get rid of all the way once you get them just hope to control them.
9. next time you grow, just wait and start everything at once and you wont have all the problems of setting up 2 areas. it is a pain in the ass. and get all the stuff you need before hand. im sure you are just growing for fun and to see what you can get. but trust me...it is funner when you have some 6 foot plants hitting the ceiling.
10. just keep learning. the more you grow the more you know. my first grow was a disaster and i still managed to get about 12 oz off of 15 plants.
11. have fun!!! thats why we do it.

Thanks for the comment, posts like these really help.

My PH is fine, I've got meter.
I plan on acquiring a few more 24 inch lights.

The seedlings are doing great, but yeah it definitely wouldn't hurt.

i didnt mean a Ph meter i meant a water meter. poke it all the way to the bottom of the plant and you know for sure if you need to water. and trust me....you can never have enough light. remember, we are trying to recreate the sun. its pretty hard and expensive! if i were you i would buy some of those deep pots and put your leggy ones in there. allo the way up to the bottom leaves and watch how they take off. it gives them power to grow roots instead of reaching for the light. think about it, if we tried to walk around on our tippy toes all the time we would be tired too.

i clicked your ebay link and it didnt say anything about a ballast thats gonna cost a bit so if it doesent have one you kinda got ripped seeing as i pay about 150 for an hps same type complete setup also you need proper lighting that is the most important part of any grow is proper lighting next is air then nutes etc your gonna need a halide or t? setup for veg and a hps for flower your gonna prob want more lighting= lumens in your flower than your veg room you can go up to double some people do even more with no adverse effects you need better containers just get rid of those floros period in my opinion and go with a halide maybe 200 about watts you can go 400 but thats a small room next build or somehow make air move in and out of grow room and inside your room meaning get a intake exhaust setup i suggest sawing 2 1/2 inch holes and attaching squirell cage fans and a wall mouted oscilating fan it frees up floor space some peeps are lazy and just put one on a stool but for 30 bucks you can get a good wall mounted fan might as well then you can use that lighting you already have in the room floor for plants instead of taking that room with a stool/stools + fan/fans if you buy grow bags they are cheap alternatives to pots easy to use and dont take alot of space when not being used hope this helps if you need more details on any of the building shit i talked about fell free to pm me

i dunno man, CFLs have their advantages in this small area, less heat, easier to maintain and manipulate in space, and last a little longer, and as he said, cash is a bit of a problem.

as for the fans, HEAD ON, ventelation is key!

i will be cheking here for those photoes!

GOOD LUCK

This light has a built in ballast, with most lights you are probably use to seeing a remote ballast where the light fixture and reflector plug into the ballast and they are separate, but with this setup the ballast, and the reflector are once piece.

I would say $80 isn't a bad deal for a 150w system, I can't really say since most of the online stores start at 250w and above.

This should get him started in the right direction!

i said if he had to still buy ballast it was bad deal .....150 watts not much in my opinion but will do the job just fine f you have it close enough to plants but with the ballst sitting right there kinda limits how close you can get if you have right ventaltion then room temps arent a prob i stay @ 72 in veg and no higher than 76 in flower and then you can be sure that you are providing enough fresh air for em plants love fresh air the more you give em the better they thrive i think i spent 130 bucks total for air movment / ventilation on two rooms not bad at all and the difference is night and day when i look at poorly vented rooms you'll be happy you spent the money and time setting up right
in an indoor grow the most important thing is lighting number 2 is air movement /temps 3 is your supplying water levels and proper nutrients etc and i would put it as a close second is your temps / air movment

those seedlings are streching like that because of the lack of proper environment e.g lights and air
my seedlings are less than a week old and they are short maybe 3 inches at longest but check out how they thrive with prop environment hope you dont mind me posting pics in your journal a pics says a thousand words thou

Wow guys, thanks for the comments.
I'm getting more florescent lights, I just haven't got a chance to five finger discount from walmart...
@Mikegreenthumb, I don't mind, though I couldn't help but think how many more you could have fit into those, but still thanks.
@four20mike, I may just do that...
I'm going to upgrade to 400 w HPS/MH, as soon as possible, but for now I'm just happy I got what I got.
I'm working on ventilation as you read.
I'm going to make a light mover.
This is the shit I'm going to get in the next few days.
More Potting soil.
I'm going to get some Fox Farm nutrients.
5 Gal containers. I need to repot again, and I'm going to take the seedlings, and put them in the final pot.
A fan. Right now I'm using an air purifier currently.
water meter- thanks If.I.grow.it.theywillcome
On other news, I got a new pipe late last night, for free too, it even had weed in it still.
Remember I said I got a puppy? Well I've named her lunatik. She fucking vicious. Half wolf, half husky.

The physical space in that container, is what I was referring too. Sorry for the confusion there.

@four20mike hell yeah she is.8)

Well I'll be there to follow your grow man!

Update:
The light came in this morning, very nice. When I first turned it on I was like wtf??!!! Because it was not bright at all, then it started getting brighter and brighter, until finally all was right in the world again.

It looks like I'm getting my camera back this Sunday. So I'll have pictures up that day. Also question, would you guys like a picture of my dog?

Growth in all the plants, new nodes are showing up. And there's this seedling that is fucking Godly(I'll definitely have pictures of this one).

I'm going into town today to see if I can get some more CFL's for the smaller plants. I also really really need to get new containers, pronto.

And last but not least I'm germinating new seeds today. With the paper towel method.
