watering and soil question

I have a question about watering and a good soil. we dont have grow shops in the south so, i was wondering what the best stuff was from home depot or lowes? I dont like what we are using now. and the watering question is, do you let the soil dry out completely or 3 inches deep. b/c im having some sources tell me one thing and others tell me another. im also posting some new pics of my babies, as they are recovering. it looks like there is yellowing on the new leaves, but there's not, its just the reflection from my light.

Here's a few tips on wartering..

Overwatering is NOT too much water. Overwatering means you are watering too often. You should water your plants until water starts to come out the holes in the bottom of the pot, then let them dry out before watering agian. If you have to water you plants daily or even every second day, that means your pot is too small for the plant or you grow medium may need more vermiculite for water retention. If your plants are staying wet for too long you might want to use more perlite to help with water drainage.

those plants have leaves that look liek they've taken burn from lights on lower leafs. they also do look over watered. i didnt read major 's post so if im repeating sorry.

The reason you proboly heard 3 inches, is because when you put a small plant, in large container, you don't need to water it all the way through, it will take forever to dry out this way. because the plants roots are not getting to the moisture and using it yet. your conatiners look fine, wait until they are all the way dry..

Looks like you need to transplant now tho..

Lol yeah she does like weed. but we keep all the animals away. So, you think we should transplant them into a bigger pot even though we plan on flowering them soon, like a foot and a half tall?

Just to lets everyone know. I'm just about as far south as you can get(almost) Brenham,Texas. We have grow shops.
