Organic Spider Mite Pesticide

Having trouble ridding your precious plants of these destructive little pricks?

I was...but I wanted an organic solution that wouldn't harm beneficial insects or add unnatural chemicals to my garden.

So i came up with this recipe which can be used safely and effectively to eradicate mites as well as white fly and other pests.

Ingredients:
Peel of one orange
2 cloves of garlic
A handful of basil leaves
Generous sprinkling of chili powder
a grinding of pepper
2 cups of boiling water

Method:
Simply combine ingredients in a bowl and soak with the 2 cups of boiling water.
Leave overnight so that the ingredients can seep their pest repellent properties into the water and combine to make an effective brew.

Strain the rested liquid and pour into a spray container. Soak the undersides of leaves. Do so daily if necessary.

Note: This will make approximately 2 cups of solution. To make a larger amount simply use greater quantities but keep proportions the same.

killed every thing I know you wanna keep some bugs

I have the best results and fastest from using Azatrol and Organicide. Both OMRI listed. The Organicide kills most of them but not the eggs and survivors are deadly being they will breed 1000's so that is where the Azatrol kicks in. Once the little bastards eat it off the leafs it screws with their hormones and they can not shed and are stuck in what ever stage they are in and so babies can not become adults and adults can not lay eggs and they die off and can not become resistant to Azatrol. I spray 3/4 strength with both then wait until the 4th day and spray full strength both and that normally does it 100%. But I have tested all my strains and first you would want to use 1/2 strength to start.

I agree on the Azatrol. Spray every 10 days even if u dont see any mites. Prevents them!!!! and it never hurt my plants

Some insightful info posted here. I work in plant health care for a living and am a licensed spray tech here in PA
Although I have to use the miticides they provide me with at work I would rather use an organic product on something I put into my body. I understand how Azatrol would work because it is a growth inhibitor. But does it leave any residue that would be potentially harmful if ingested by humans? I will absolutely try the method mentioned by catman07 in a controlled study in my home and post the results when the study is completed. I have unlimited access to garden pests and will simply acquire a few different species from customer's gardens when they are available . It is a little too early yet for mites here in the Delaware Valley.

Azamax is the only thing that has worked for me - organic. Assume it is similar to the Azatrol. Bug bombed 3 times, washed leaves in lavender soap, sprayed with spinosad and then pyrethrin and none of it had an effect. Azamax killed them fast.
