Ive never tried either , and had terrible luck in soil/soilless mixes . so i moved onto hydro with superb success:-o ive seen ppl post during my studies that miricle grow sucks for growing MJ and is not recommended. i suggest Shultz 20-20-20 and mix weak at first . hope this helps goood luck
