first time grower, couple small problems, need help.

so Im a first time grower, growing a clone that i got for free. i was told it is bubblegum. the plant seemed to be doing fine. when first vegging i transplanted it to a cocogrow medium from what it came in. about a week into the grow i noticed the bottom growth becoming light green/yellow and treated it as a nitrogen deficiency with fishemulsion every other watering, which seemed to fixed the problem, and for a couple weeks, there was no new problems as everything was growing fast and lush. recently i transplanted it again because i want to flower soon. i put it in a 5 gallon container with fox farms oceans forest and perlite, (which i mixed with the soil, more perlite at the bottom of the container and less near the top.) i used superthrive in the water after transplanting to water the plant into the new medium. recently i noticed that a few leaves (really only about 4 and not too bad...yet?!) have some spots near edge of leaves that are yellow or kinda bleached looking, see pic. also stems are red/purple. any help advice, whatever is greatly appreciated.

by the way. i used fish emulsion early on at 1/4 strength, then used a fish emulsion and shultz(10-15-10) mix at 1/4 stregnth, when i would feed it. i feed every other watering and only water when soil is almost dry. one more thing that could be the culprit, i foilar fed the plant a day or two ago with a very low dose, probably 1/8 strength if that of a bloom formula. the bloom food is 12-36-14 african violet, jack's classic fert. for flowering i was going to start off feeding with the 10-15-10 formula and then eventualy switch to just the bloom food.
and should i use superthrive all the way through?

pics are of purple/red stems, outside spotting/burning and the whole plant so u can see how she looks. thanks again in advance

I'm glad to hear u got a bubblegum clone...it's my favourite strain =)

1. Check ur soil. If ur using a "hot"(allready premixed w macro and micro nutrients) soil then dont add any nutes first 2-4 weeks.

2. Red stems in Bubblegum is normal, thats true! But too much reddness is a dead giveaway of too much nutes in a bubblegum...thats what ive experienced...the bubblegum shows nuteburn when stems on bigger fan leaves are tottally red, then comes the yellow "burnt" tip. Reddness in the stems are as I said normal, but it could also be Mg def. wich ive also experienced in Bubblegum...but that hasnt occured untill week 3-4 in veg (when nutes in the soil have been used up). Ive also experienced redness when lack of N-P-K, but that doesnt sound like the case w ur grow?!
Check the soil first...if it has all nutrients, w8 till week 3-4 and add small dose of nutrients and work ur way up. Learn to read that strain.

3. those spots could mean a lot of things...most likely since ur using soil is a lil too low Ph?...juest a guess after growing a few rounds of bubblegum in soil. But as long as its just some of the lower leaves...dont worry...if it spreads...then worry!

Hi there ye i have used the superthrive just after potting into "hot" soil and everything was fine, just a couple of drops is all you need tho! Some strong shit!

It's because you put that plant in a five gallon bucket of dirt too early that its getting nute burn. That's a lot of soil, and if you give these plants the room, they will spend their energy filling that entire bucket with roots, instead of upward growth.

no, thats not true. your root system size and plant size are directly related.it knows what its doing....... i dont know why you would say its too early either way, plants grow in the ground in nature........they waste all their time just growing roots? no, they grow roots in proportion to canopy size and vice versa.........

thanks for the help and info. burn hasn't spread and plant seems to be doing fine. should i cut off the leaf or two that have the burns?

leave them, the plant will drop them if they are becoming a burden instead of an asset. it knows what its doing. if its over 75% damaged you can help the plant and cut it, but not before then, imo.

So my plants seem to be doing fine, the nute burn didnt spread and ive only fed with filtered water and superthrive since. But now i have a new question? ill post the pics below, but i think could have overwatered, just would like to see what others think, ill also put up a pic of my ghetto setup to see what others think, thanks.

by the way, just switched the light cycle to 12/12, its been three days. also the light setup is 4 40watt cfls that are 2700k, and 4 40 watt florescents, 2 are in the 2500k-2700k range and the other two are 6500k. 240 watts at 2700k with 80 watts at 6500k.
