if usa wanted to make cars last as long as hondas and toyotas as the saying goes.. they would... its a diffrent type of marketing strategy... there not dumb they know whats going on.. its a case of making more money on parts and sales.. or getting more people to buy more reliable vehicles. its all about forged metal

prius cheats -

stop code: brake, brake, gas, left blinker 2 twice then hit the volume knob on the stereo.

This is what happens when the govt. gets into the car business. The impartiality vanishes....
Exactly!!! How convenient, the gov't effectively takes control/ownership of GM and suddenly Toyota is the object of a witch-hunt, or at the least politically motivated over zealousness. Sure there is a RARE problem, but they'll fix it.

Where was all of this Gov't concern when people were dying in rollovers in Explorers with Bridgestone tires? Or Jeeps? Or the classic auto-flambe' -- the Ford Pinto!!!?

One good thing though, maybe this will drive the price of Toyotas down and I'll go buy a new car. My Tundra gets lonely in the garage at night.

Ford is the only American auto product I will buy.

Toyota has been torpedoed by the US govt. We are becoming a Banana republic.

Yep flat out torpedoed........ sinkin as we watch.

Funny tho, they all have their recalls, (this is an extreme case though) but we all forget.
Also heard yesterday, toyota doesnt know if their fix will actually fix the problem. ouch?
Too bad, toyota had some pretty beastly cars, still love the FJ CRAWLER............. fj cruiser? might as well drive a PT Cruiser!

Maybe they will become a dime a dozen, if they do I'll buy a few and redesign the freakin gas pedal system.
I'd love to make a few buggies out of the FJ Crawler without breaking the bank. that would be sweet!

19 deaths is hardly an extreme case.... and that's the point. The US government is fanning the flames here. They have a VESTED interest in doing so, which is a CONFLICT of democracy. Then again, we're turning into a statist regime under Obama.

They are all over the airwaves and media because they have been attacked PUBLICLY by the US govt.

It's a response to a slash and burn campaign.

They give in? No, they are fixing it, but they have to make a response in words now that they have been attacked.

It's a conflict.... the govt. has no business being in the auto industry.

The Govt. went too far ... on purpose. then they reign it back in apologetic, AFTER the damage is done.... classic socialism.

i totaly agree with ya Cracker Jax, ive been sayin all along this is a big media ploy by the uS since they hold stock in GM nowadays, toyota builds decent cars and trucks, GM builds junk....period. I own a 78ford that has pulled out countless stuck chebys and GMc's. My daily driver is a 85 BMW..............GM and their propaganda can suck a bag of dicks.
