2 weeks old... ROOT PROBLEM!?

These bitches won't grow! The roots popped out the bottom of the cube when it was maybe 4 days old, and they haven't grown at all since then. Plant is a little over 2 weeks old, not exactly sure what day it sprouted.
This is my first time hydro grow... is there something I need to do before I put it in my hydro farm system? Its currently chillin in my humidity dome with about 1/8 inch of standing water.

Are the roots in darkness or do they grow out of the cube into the light? When they hit the light they'll stop growing outwards - put the current cube in a bigger cube or cover the cube tray.

If not ... tell us more about your set up: How big is the cube you're using now? Strain? Water - tap, RO; nutes; light/dark cycle?

Overwateing? The roots need a reason to stretch out and look for more water. Are they getting a soak then a drain cycle or in water all the time?

There's water in the bottom of this tray - do the cubes sit in water all the time?

you need to have water running over the top of the roots. When your roots dry out, all the hairs on them die and the hairs are actually what absorbs water and nutrients! Plus, you should never have anything in sitting water, it always has to circulate or else your roots will die from lack of oxygen

Not true. My aeroponics system runs in 30 minute intervals, so according to you, my plants should be dead. There have been several occasions where I shut the system off for a few hours for some reason or another. The roots are fine to dry out for short periods.

Plus, you should never have anything in sitting water, it always has to circulate or else your roots will die from lack of oxygen

That is true. If your roots are sitting in stagnant water, they will rot and die.
 
Ok, thanks for your responses! But I still need help...

I've been keeping her on 24 hours a day light cycle, no nutrients yet! I guess I just don't know what to do now.... it can't go in my hydro farm system yet because the roots aren't long enough, but what do I need to do in order to make them grow? How do I administer nutrients and keep the roots in complete darkness and have running water when she is in a humidity dome with 8 other germinating seeds?

Put them in the Hydrofarm and handwater until the system can take over. Be sure water straight below the plant, make that tap root go a chasing. Sitting in that puddle of water. Why would the root grow? No need, has all the water it needs right there.

I just put her into my hydrofarm system to await instructions on how to water her... within 5 minutes after transplanting her leaves are drooping HORRIBLY! I panicked and put in my 4 inch air stone and turned on the system with the water dripping right next to the cube.

PLEASE HELP!!

Empty out the water in your tray, and the roots will grow out like normal.

That standing water is the reason no more roots are coming out. Too wet!

Roots need slight moisture.. nothing like that.


Make sure the room is above 65 degrees.

Follow these diections, and Within a week, you'll have lots of roots poking out of that cube.

You should only need to run the drip 3 or 4 times during lights on. For a 15-30 minutes. You have the dripper in the right place, next to the cube. You can even put it in the cube next to the plant. The cube will drain now that it is in the hydroton.

I think my problem was definitely leaving it in the standing water and exposing the roots to light! I should have put her in the system prior to seeing any roots.

Also, I think the reason the leaves drooped horribly when I transplanted it was because it had been in 100% humidity and when I moved it out the leaves lost some moisture, its looking better now
