Hello RIU Bretheren,

I've seen a number of questions about veg & flower times and in general here's my opinion on growing your own hight quality cannabis . . .

Entire Process:

The entire process to "grow your own" will take you no less than 6 months and could take up to 8 months if your growing a sativa and/or encounter any problems that require recovery time, ultimately extending time until harvest.

Here is how it breaks down . . .

STAGES - Germination to Vaporization


2 months minimum for full vegitation stage

2 - 3 months for the flowering stage depending on the strain. Sativas take longer to flower. Many Sativas will easily flower for 3 months and in many strains require 3 months to fully flower.

2 months for drying and curing.

Following this general guideline will give you the time table to need to patiently grow and eventually smoke some rightous bud.

you better have PLENTY of vertical space if you're going to veg a sativa for 3 months. if you're using a custom grow-box or some other high-limiting grow space, vegging a sativa for 3 months is going to give you a BIG surprise after 4 weeks flowering.

I vegged my sativa's for a little over one month. They tripled in size from around 12" (they were a foot tall AFTER intense LST and ScrOG). the main stems are 3' and the secondary branches are pushing 2.5'.

LIKE I Said . . . 7 months till the your bud is cured in most cases. Thats' 2 months for full veg. 2 months for full flower and two months to dry and cure properly and one month to boot in case you run into any problems.

I'm only trying to be an asshole a little. You're right that it takes much longer than the projected 1 month for vege and 2 months for flower, but in reality its 4-5 months start to finish

right and I'm coming from the perspective of doing it patiently and corrrectly from the time you drop your seed in the water till your like joe-puff-n-stuff.

just leave it at its best to play it by eye.
given the space you have everyones timeline will be different.
but glad that some ppl may get that they cant smoke their bud by next month

ty, very simple point I'm making here but there are quesiton all the time on "When should I flower", "how long should I veg" etc. etc.

i agree this time table is bs you waisted my time if i could neg rep you i would you have obviously very little actual growing experiance you ever heard of 12/12 from seed micro growing etc those are 2 months start to finish and many growers get better yield per watt this way than they would others indoor even if your not doing that i know peeps only veg for 2 weeks and clones root diff than seed seed builds a rootball fast i mean fast they will overrun a 3 gal container with roots under two months basically your thread is MISINFORMATION at best please ANY NEWBIES DONT FOLLOW THE ADVISE FROM THIS THREAD

7 month is way to long of a grow time even for sativas, idk about outdoors

You came off like expert when you could have just said this is my time line what do you guys think. Just learn how the site rolls a bit and you will get along fine. If ridiculed just take it in stride and realize that the title itself was a bit much. No one is going off so just chill yourself and laugh it off we are all just stoned. I dont go with your time line myself but admit if you waited and take your time like you suggested it would definitly be a big yield. I have often joked that the title can just be the lure to get people to view and comment. You make a valid point and all I can say is that i did include "new growers" . . . and you hit the nail on the head . . . I'm coming from the perspective of a patient grow, high yield and quality finishing. Maybe the title was a bit inflated that is my bad.
