Mike,
So you have no neoprem or sponge or anything that raps around the clone? If so, does it just sit on the lide? all the other clone machines DIY and store bought use a round disk of something with a slit to the center so you can remove clone to plant it.

Nice post.I have tried a clone bucket or 2 but not directly hanging the stem in like that. I always had used my clones in cubes and 1 inch nets then put in the aero clone setup and did it.Do you use any kind of stimulant in the water? Hormones or vitamins? Im back to my humidity dome trying to clone BlueBerry which has proven to be one hard clone.I usually have about 95% success rate and roots through cubes in 3-5 days but these blueberrys either dont root after 2 weeks or will dies trying.I think I finally got 8 to take hopefully will know in a day or so its been 10 days and they look alive and perk just waiting for roots to show through. di 4 in gel and 4 in powder as I have found my old root powder works better then the clonex gel.Good built though

i leave the cutting set on the first set of nodes. no other support

you can cut a slit in the tubing to make the removal easier but i have not yet.

i let the roots grow to 1/2-1" long and have no trouble getting the cutting out..........be careful

thanks fletch, i have used superthrive but have found that the little bit of bloom nutes (FF BIG BLOOM) works great.

my container holds 3 gal. and i mix at 1/3 strength.

here are some updates and new pictures......

i have added 4 more air stones and keeping the stems just above the water level.

the air bubbles bursting will mist the clones enough to keep the stem wet. this allows for the stems to get the right amount of oxygen and water.

when taking your cuttings,,,,,,i like to let mine soak in the water for 30 minutes before going into the cloner. this helps to not let the cutting dry out.

let the air pumps run 24/7 and check to make sure the stems are staying wet. i also keep my water temp around 70-75*f

i have also been using a humidity dome (just another bottom) for the first 5-7 days.

my clear tubing kept growing algae inside. so i cut my holes bigger and thought (quick fix), coolie cup ? and started cutting the (coolie) neoprene just like the inserts you buy........its working for now. when i go to get more soil ill pick up the 2" inserts. mine just sit on top of the lid for now...:joint:

hope this helps for those that are interested.......:peace:

Thanks for all the info. I have started building mine already, and will be putting clones in it tomorrow

I have finished building my cloner, and have my first 15 on day two now. I ended up presoaking my clones for about 24 hours because I thought I would finish building it before I did. When I put two of the clones in they looked like they were going to die right away, but the aero cloner revived them!

I will check back with how many of mine root. It will probably be a little longer than usual because the clones were taken from plants in the second week of flower. :joint::mrgreen:

I built something a few days ago based on this design and several others I have seen. I came back to post about the water levels in the container but I see now you leave the water 1/2 inch below the roots or stem. I am worried some of them may not be getting enough water, only time will tell.

Its mostly males being cloned now, got to start somewhere...
