It is possible to clone from tops, and while in bloom

Ive read so many times that its impossible to clone from the top of a plant, or from plants that are in bloom, let alone have buds on them.

Well my friends... i had a plant that was too tall, and was in bloom, so i chopped the top off it, and threw it in my homade ez clone tub just for the hell of it.

Roots.

Also, have plants that are over a month into bloom and have nice sized buds on them now, trimmed off some bottom branches off those, and threw them in rapid rooter plugs...

Roots.

It takes a couple extra days... but if you are going to trim a plant... and can use a clone or 2... why not give it a shot?

I feel like a clone master now :)

I don't think it's the rooting itself that is the reason cloning from a flowering plant is discouraged. I believe it is the lengthy revegging process that comes along with it. The new clone will take what seems like an eternity to return to normal vegetative growth. And what it does between now and then will look like something out of a Tim Burton movie gone wrong, that is if it doesn't try to change sex on you. When all is said and done tho, you'll be rather impressed with the branching structure that results.

i cloned from a plant that was budding & as burninjay said the rooting wasnt a problem the growth & development was severely slowed in the process but it was the only way i could preserve that strain how & when you clone makes a lot of difference i ended up cloning off of the clone i hope your results turn out better than mine did

If you rooted from the top of a flowering plant, you are pure genius!! I truly stand in awe.

i use clonex rooting gel.. im sure others work as well.

I put the top, and it was the tip top, about the top 5 inches of the plant...

I put that in a ezclone sprayer with on/ff cycles of about 2 min on, 10 min off.

I didnt put any rooting gel on it for about 2 days.

Then when i was doing some other clones, and had the gel out, i pulled this clone out of the netpot, and dipped it in the rooting gel.

I put it back in the cloner.

Took about a week or so, prob 9 days if i had to guess... but it has serious roots now.

I think hormones are the key to all of it, and keeping the clone hydrated, and also letting it dry out in between hydrations if done in an ezcloner/spray cloner.

Hope that helps

you absolutely can clone anytime during the grow.It is just better in veg takes less time to root. You can take a fully budded plant ready for harvest/remove almost all the buds/leave a little leaf and re-veg the same plant over again and then flower again.
