Yes you are haha.... Well with only being a noob, when I started I went straight for the HPS due to the fact that it gives more lumens per watt. But after reading and investigating it's becoming clearer that I will need some other form of lighting along the way. Like you say HPS will give you quantity, but not as much quality, which is what I prefer. So we need to find a way of manipulating the lights to maybe 1) create big buds with HPS, 2) then hit it with light spectrum that will make it stronger. Hopefully the UVB will play some part in that, maybe not much but ever little helps. Thats why for my next grow I'm adding a 250w envirolite, which can have either blue or red bulbs, and so I can swap the blue and red around at times that it will produce a better grow ie stronger but also big buds.

I also believe something else I read, that hps grown plants are full of cbd. This ties in perfectly with my theory on the 2 cells in the trich'. One cell is for thc, the other cbd. One blue, one red. Which is why we need a combination of lights. Every light from the spectrum would be good, even far red might be good. With the right manipulation of light spectrums we could force the plant to evolve into something like the world has never seen.

Am I mad?
If you combine red & blue does anyone know the resultant color?

So here is today's question.

If you have the same size, cubic feet & dimensions, grow space.

One has 12 CFL's and the other has 6.

One has 98 bright paper as the reflective surface - 12 cfl's (10-100watt equivalent & 2 - 75watt equivalent @ 6,500k)

The other has same brightness but UV coated - 6 cfl's (4 - 100watt equivalent & 2 - 60 watt equivalent @6,500k)

Question - using plants from same DNA and germinated at the exact same time, fed the exact same thing. Which plants grew more robustly? And if there was a difference, how much difference was there, if any?

The plants in the regular paper grow or the UV coated?

my answer without the assistance of bud....I believe the coated paper, but it will only be marginally measureable difference. then again...I could be wrong...:mrgreen:

What's the spec of that bulb? Did it have any kind of technical information on the packaging you could share with us?

Yeah i looked into those earlier. it seems the 10. ones are the best. Do they give off much heat? I read they have a 20" range.

Judging by my eye_it is red_I'd say the growth in the box with the UV coated paper has at least a 10% better rate of growth, PLUS, it is only using 1/2 the power.

How does the light propagate? Normal light needs big % increments_eg. you can not see the difference between a 20w and a 30w, but you can certainly see the difference between a 20w and a 40w-so in this case, it takes 100% for the light to propagate.

By reflecting the UV wave, does it change the wavelength?

Yes, because the wavelength has further to travel... unless, we built something that resembled a trichome... a magnifier. This reminds me of another thread I started when I first joined. I didn't know what I was saying, or how to say it... the thread was called Indoor Greenhouse.
