Over Fertalization.

I'd be willing to bet that like me, most people here have let themselves become a bit over zealous with their fertalizer. So, I figured I'd start a thread on this matter.

What if any signs of over fertalization have you noticed? If you have pictures, they would be helpful to others wishing to diagnose their own problems.

Right now I have no pictures but what I have seen is this:

1) Leaf curling. My understanding is that at high levels a salt can form and actually draw water out of the plant. The leafs curl to reduce transpiration.

2) Necrotic spots and yellowing. It looks exactly like spider mite damage but without the mites.

Also, What kind of ppm/ph to light and temp and water ratio are people using that are not experiencing these symptoms ?

And what kind of NPK ratio ?

PH around 6. In Hydro I go around 1500 EC. In soil less half that every fourth watering or so - more will cause these problems.

Right now I am using 9-3-6.

What is tour temp and humidity. I would nuke my shit at that ppm. That is why i am trying to figure out what nute level and NPK at what tmp/water temp/water feed sched and on and on.

I play poker and if some one wants to talk about some lame hand they got beat on.. I dont want to listen unless i get every detail about the hand. Same goes for this. Come on UB.

My temps fluctuate from around 75 at night to 85 in the day - CO2 makes ventilation complicated.

I don't measure water temp because it's an ebb and flow. Why do you think this is important?

feed once a week and water once a week. If your using potting soil. Use half of what the bottle says every second watering.

If you think you have a nute burn just flush the soil with 2 gallons of water pure galllon of soil.
The reason water should be room temp or more is because heat speeds up chemical activity. Like cloning the roots grow quiker when they are warm. If your soil is on the floor it is going to be as cold as the floor. I do a vertical drip sytem with two gallon grow bags full of Pro mix-HP, My soilless stays warmer on the tears then they do sitting on the cold concrete.
So for you since you have tables, and its an active hydro system. Your water should be room temps. It doesnt get to cold in your room. Personaly i wouldnt heat the water. The hot temps in the room will heat it up. It would be a waste trying to heat up the water.
Everytime you top it off do it a little warmer.
Get a controller to turn your outtake off and turn your Co2 on. When your outtake shuts off it will get really hott in couple minutes. That is when Co2 is worth doing. 29C is the best. If your temps arent over 26 your wasting Co2

At first the leaf tips curl. Some strains can take the full dose and some cant. Once those leaf tips curl down, Flush your plants with a qauter strenght hydro fert. 2gal for 1gal of soil. Go light on them.
After they curl down feel the leafs in a week, They will be dry and feel brittle if you didnt flush right. Next there will be alot of lower dropped leafs. On the middle of the plant you will see Necrotic spots and rust. Do you check for mites? I always spray early, even if there is no mites YET

Thanks Smileyface, that is exactely what I have done.

For mites in a garage, there is a little white bomb can called Pyrithrium or something like that. Turn off everything electrical, set it off and get out.

Well i learnt my lession the hard way and almost lost a crop. I sprayed them with azamax when there was webs forming. After the first dose with a pump sprayer the mites were no where to been seen. I spray once one with neem oil and azamax mixed... No more anything
I spray them with neem when they are cuttings and veg/flower with azamax/neem. They are both organic. Try not to breathe the azamax in and turn all your fans off for ten minutes and let it settle.cover your intake and dont leave a mess. No dead leafs should be in there.
