Afghan and Big Bud -3 weeks into flowering

I have an Afghan Kush and Big Bud that are just over 3 weeks into flowering.
This is my first grow and I use a 400 watt dual spectrum CFL.
I was wondering if anyone has any input as the buds still seem very underdeveloped. How can I make this better for next time.

they look great really. That's what you expect after 3 weeks. Are those feminized beans?

mines about 4 or 5 weeks into flowering u wont get fully devoloped bud yet. u got another 40 odd days left to go yet till u harvest.........

the "400 watt cfl" is probably equivalent watts. the actual watts used is much less. you need about 75 actual watts per plant to get decent flowering and those lights should be kept within a couple of inches of the plant.

edit - saw your pics after my post - your plants look fine for this stage - buds will get denser as it ages

For desert Rat yeh unfortunately light bit high at mo mainly because the Big Bud keeps growing Lol,but I shall be getting other light too

i have about 14 odd thousand lumens because im using a flourescent light too thats around 9000 lumens and also 4 other lights around 5000 alltogether...also have a 125 watt cfl red spectrum light tommorow and a nice thermo to let me know how much heat the plants gettin when its right near the bud top........

Mrbud,nice one looks healthier than mine,how much do you expect to yield from yours. Mine had few stresses in veg,but happy it turned around

Yes think better invest in more light. I know the more Lumens the better but i wouldn`t know how many that one light produces on own. Is there standard for each watt referring only to the CFLs,as i know sodiums etc would be different

from the lighting stickie in general growing:


Approximate light production:
Incandescents: 17 lumens/watt
Mercury vapor: 45-50 lumens/watt
Fluorescents: 60-70 lumens/watt
Metal halide: 90 lumens/watt
High pressure sodium: 107 lumens/watt

I dont think they are far from ready so bit worried they wont have time to dense out properly,but reckon should get smoke none the less.
For first grow is expected

far from ready still meant good few weeks. I know at harvest go on trichs but pistils seem to be getting dark quickly and not sure if will hold out for all the weeks still needs

No still at least 4 weeks,at the earliest,just like i say not sure will hold out that long. The actual amount of buds per plant is better than thought,but they may be small yet. Thanks for getting back to me

i have big bud hydroponic n afghan goo soil 3 weeks n flowering an our buds look about the same
