:cuss:Question would my 250 watt mh cause this big jump in my electricy bill? The bill went from $50 to $234.00. I ran my 250 watt metal haloid for 18 hrs on and 6 off for 30 days......hubby may shut this girl down.

You must be running something else because a 250 watter only draws 2 and 1/2 amps, less than most TV's, hell I leave my computer on 24/7 and it draws 4 amps

Sometimes they just guess your power usage per month and then when the meter man comes around he sticks you with the actual bill.

Shouldn't have been that much!. You used .250 *18 * 30 = 135 Kilowatt hours. At .12c/kwh your total would be $27 . Sure you didn't run any space heaters or something? Living up there in Bronco country and all where its mighty cold .

No way should that light have cost you that much - I've been running a pair of 400w HPS, plus 648 actual watts of CFL's, six fans, and a couple air purifiers, along with two space heaters on low - and all this increased my bill by about $120 a month.
