Germinating seeds in a cold place?

Its cold right now where I live. How can I bring the temperature up to about 80F for my seeds to germinate? I don't have a heater, and leaving the seeds on top of a hot pan would probably dry all the moisture and kill the seeds!

I just germed some seeds in a room that was 50F. I used a heating mat and kept the temp ~80F. Actually, used a heating mat from an old water bed of mine -- it was free worked great!

buy a cheap heated propergator for bout 15 quid and pop em in that it works 100% of the time for me wen i use jiffy peat pellets and bury the seed bout 1cm down and cover and leave for 48-72 hrs and urll have baby seedlings wanting light.

A thick plate over the top of a crockpot filled with plain water and set on low. works well. Makes a nice warm and moist place.

put them "above" your hot water boiler in your airing cuboard. and keep them at 80f at least constant and keep them moist.

naw, you guys are complicating it. just make a dome with a plate and a bowl. put a wet paper towel in the dome with the seeds and put that on top of the cable box or computer

germing in paper towels just stresses the seedling wen u take it out to pot it on cuz the roots have tiny hairs that intertwine with the fibers in the paper. I never use paper towls. for the price of a heated prop and some jiffy pellets urd be mad ballencing dishes of water on things hoping they dunt dry out. My way u dont have to worry or stress the plants. All for about 15 pounds from any garden centre. All u need at home is a plug socket and some electricity.

Ok itll set ya back 20 pounds but for that money u get piece of mind and excellent germ rates and no fuking about with wet paper

i never touched a tap root with my bare hands, but i have always just picked it up by the seed helmet and drop it into a little finger hole. never had any problems doing this

actually, OP, you should enjoy this simple stage of your grow, it gets harder from here

WOW and WOW...u guys are complicating things way too much. Just stick the seeds up ya ass that will keep em warm and moist and when u take a dump the next day u will have "cracked" seeds in abundant of fertilizer.

I had the flu once, I bet it got relly warm in the rear...next day came out a finnished bud, dried and cured.

The crockpot takes place of either of those, which both work very well. I just like the 10 dollar crock. I can move it around if need be, thats all.
