Tutorial to Growing with Cfl's

CFL's are super simple to use and cheap to a quire and SOOOOO easy to set up for a beginner wanting to grow some nice healthy quality smokeables you cant beat it .. set them up ...turn them on .. make sure you have a small fan in there and you don't even have to worry about plant burn .. make sure you have at least one set up down low to aid in light penatration and put a couple over the top of the plant/plants and then drop them down about 2 or 3 inches right off the top and in a few months .. GANJA !!

i run 8 plants under 2 home made hoods i have made for CFL total cost to build is 56 dollars apiece and you can get all the parts at walmart here ill post a couple pix for ya
hey guys great post. Making me think of goin cfls. I have a question tho. How many lights would you need to be in a 4x4x6? Also as far as the red and blue spectrums what the highest wattage you reccomend for both in a set up like this? Im starting a personal stash and i already have the tent

4x4x6 is no problem that is basically a big closet and until recently i have been pretty much a closet grower my whole time 2 or possibly even 3 of these types of lights would give you ample coverage and great penetration also without the huge electric bills

Yea,
Bagseed is the best strain ever...to experiment and play with....I saved up my bagseed for 2 years...after the fact that my first grow with bought seed was an epic failure...hey when I get buds off of bagseed then I will get me some indoor indica I am a CFL grower, with 3 plants max haha I am here to learn, and grow, both with my plants, and as a Christian spirituallty. God does NOT condem that He provided to us naturally Anyways never fear experimenting with the unknown

just curious if anybody would have an answer for this....
i am going to run auto ak-47 from lowlife seeds andi will be using cfls until i sex the plants. not real sure what color cfl to use for the 1st 3-4 weeks. its an auto flower strain so i plan to use cfls until i sex them then once they are sexed i will repott them and finish them under 400 watt hps. i read the tutorial and saw that the higher number cfls are good for vegging and the lower number cfls are good for flowering. i am just not sure what catagory a presexed auto is in. if anybody knows what i am trying to do please tel me i guess......lol

just because it is a auto doesn't really make it any different you just have less bullshit to get it to flower if i was you i would mix 6500's and 2700's for a multi spectrum so when it flips for you its already got the best lighting...either that or go for just strait full spectrum bulbs so you don't have to change anything ..

Use 6500K bulbs until they show sex, and then change to your HPS.

that is kinda a middle of the road bulb...it will work just not at max efficiency you want 2700K if you want a strait flowering bulb...don't get me wrong it will work...just will be slow

Been reading through the boards and there is so much GREAT information and talented farmers in this forum, that I find myself getting lost in a sea of open tabs trying to simply catch up. Anyway, I am one of the countless new growers on the site and as with all of us, we must start somewhere with many questions, haha. I figured stop reading, participate and just ask. All you cats seem very forthcoming with your wisdom and kind with your answers.
I am focusing on going CFL myself - just seems more logical and economical for a small time closet grower like myself. And I recently started the beginning stages of a four socket grow light and cover. I picked up my bulbs today from Menards, before going far enough into this thread and now I am a bit worried. I grabbed four, 42w = 200w EcoBulb Plus Daylights (6500k/2800Lumens each).
These lil buggers set me back about 9 bucks a pop. They do not advertise any growing advantages or anything grow related at all like some lights and fluorescents do, Are these worth while or the cash dealt out? Or should I keep two of them for veggie stage and return the other two and pick up a couple 2700lm for the flowering stage? And maybe top of the ends of my lamp cover with a couple smaller or alternate spectrum lighting. I am currently growing only three 'lil prides of joy and just passed the germination stage and planted my soil stage this evening.
By the way as a first time grower, I can't explain the excitement I had when I got home this evening and saw the lil guys sprouting. I can see I have fallen in love with a green thumb. And sprouted in three days no doubt.
