Plants like two types of lighting. While they are growing (veg) they do better in white light. Like a daylight bulb or 6500k. When they are flowering they do better under a yellow light. like soft white or 3000k.

This can be done with cfls, tube fluorescent like T5's or High definition lighting. These are Metal halide and High pressure sodium (MH and HPS)
Good rule of thumb is the more wattage the more buds in the end.

I use a 400 watt HPS and last harvest I got 9.5 oz's
Heres a link to one on ebay Link

Feel free to check out my journals for info. links under the pic. Or click on the pic.

Good luck

plant can grow with 85w/6500k ?? in standard PC case ?? or need more ?
this will work! 6500k is ideal for veg (blue band of light spectrum) and 2500k is ideal for flower (red band of light spectrum).. for optimal growth you can use full spectrum or one of each!

How the Sunlight Affects Plant Growth

200 - 280 nmUVC ultraviolet range which is extremely harmful to plants because it is highly toxic.280 - 315 nmIncludes harmful UVB ultraviolet light which causes plants colors to fade.315 - 380 nmRange of UVA ultraviolet light which is neither harmful nor beneficial to plant growth.380 - 400 nm Start of visible light spectrum. Process of chlorophyll absorption begins. UV protected plastics ideally block out any light below this range.400 - 520 nmThis range includes violet, blue, and green bands. Peak absorption by chlorophyll occurs, and a strong influence on photosynthesis. (promotes vegetative growth)520 - 610 nmThis range includes the green, yellow, and orange bands and has less absorption by pigments.610 - 720 nmThis is the red band. Large amount of absorption by chlorophyll occurs, and most significant influence on photosynthesis. (promotes flowering and budding)720 - 1000 nmThere is little absorption by chlorophyll here. Flowering and germination is influenced. At the high end of the band is infrared, which is heat.1000+ nmTotally infrared range. All energy absorbed at this point is converted to heat.
