Ok, so after doing a bit of research I found somethings out that I'll list below. Get ready to be outraged.
We can all agree that Crack is one of the worst things you can do right? And that sweet mary jane isn't bad at all right? Marijuana is a schedule one drug. We all know that. It's documented here from a drug website:
Marijuana is a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Schedule I drugs are classified as having a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.
Well this next piece comes directly from wikipedia.Yes wikipedia generally has a lot of misinformation, but they usually get the big things right. So here:
In the United States cocaine is a Schedule II drug under the Controlled Substances Act since it has high abuse potential but also carries a medicinal purpose.[22][23] Under the DEA listing of schedule I substances, crack is not considered separate from cocaine since they are essentially the same drug compound in different forms.
But here's the kicker, (this comes from a law firm in georgia's website),:
For example, any Georgia drug offense which involves a Schedule 1 drug, such as LSD, Heroin, or Methamphetamines will carry with it a much more severe penalty than an offense involving a narcotic named within Schedule 2 through 5.
That means you can get imprisoned longer, more of your stuff seized, and higher fines and penalties if you are convicted of selling medicinal marijuana to people who genuinely benefit from it's use, than selling a horrible poison that destroys lives, families, opportunities, and whole communities!
And it doesn't just apply to selling, it applies to possession, and manufacturing as well!
Let's review the u.s. government's position, in it's infinite wisdom:
Using natural medicine is worse than selling or making poison that destroys peoples' lives and kills them!
Oh well I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Cigarettes are legal.
