In House Hydro cabinet

I'm an older smoker who is looking into growing for the first time -- I never did before simply because I had a steady supply in my old town. I noticed on eBay that there are several "stealth" cabinets available, and some are apparently self-contained. One in particular caught my eye, built by an outfit called In House Hydro.

I will be growing mainly for my own consumption, plus an occasional gift for a friend or two. I'm thinking an extremely small yield (I would probably only smoke an ounce or so every couple of months). I am a light smoker . . . I just like to have a small supply on hand.

Does anyone here have any experience with this outfit, or are there other choices for stealth and self-containment which are superior? I really need a setup which is fairly simple and doesn't consume too much time. Because of my profession, excess time is a commodity that I do not have. Money is not too much of an issue with me right now -- I've been very fortunate.

wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to convert a second hand wardrobe or something. All you need to do is line it, cut two vent holes, and your away!

Welcome to the wonderful world of growing . I as you have been smoking for years and just starting growing my own last year. I did lots of research first before doing anything. I am a gardener so I think that helps.

Im assuming you dont want to construct a grow box from scratch.

The System you Found on Ebay looks fantastic.

Dose this thing come with Lights,timers,Fans, Included?

And were in the ad dose it say what the plants are growing in.
Aeroponics? or What?

welcome....you have come to a place where there are many with experience, and friendship to help you out. I also am a long time occassional toker and have also decided to get into this as much as a hobby as for the secuirty of supply so to speak (quality and availability).

In terms of questions that you need to answer for yourself, the aspects of light, water, soil/hydroponics and air are all important. you need enough light otherwise your wasting your time. you need to be able to effectively and efficiently water. you can chooses either soil or hydroponmics. and you need to be able to manage the air, including heat (depending on your lights) and odour, if that is a concern.

The idea of a small cabinet, or closet in your house can very easily be converted. but you might just want to spend a little time looking around...reading and learning what the options are and then begin to forumlate a plan that suits your needs.

I don't have experience with the cabinet you posted so won't comment but welcome to the site! i think you'll find a lot of us are older inexperienced growers (or maybe i should speak for myself).

Thanks for the replies. You all really know how to make a noob feel welcome. I have been reading hundreds of threads on this forum, and I definitely like it here already.

I think I'm going to go for a Bubbleponics system as a starting off point (the one with the dual spectrum CFLs). If I stick with it, I'll probably upgrade the lighting. As far as concealment goes, I'd be able to handle converting some sort of a Rubbermaid storage cabinet to suit my purposes, I think. Should I line the interior of the cabinet with reflective mylar?

i say down with cfl and up with hps!!! but to each his/her own....cuz i've seen nice results with cfls!

The thing comes with everything, but the price is a little high considering that I could rig up a cabinet with some holes for ventilation, power cords, and the like. I'm going to look for a small fan for general airflow and probably rig up an air filter from some dryer hose. I have a big basement, but I also have a little kid, so I have to get a locking cabinet, otherwise I'd just put a tent up in a corner of the basement. The cabinet will be hidden in plain sight in the basement, probably near the HVAC for noise masking.
