Help! Plants are 2/3 inches tall, and 6 inches wide?

Thanks to any help in advance!

My plants are 9 days (16 from seed) old, and are doing well for the most part. The problem is they are not growing in height at all and are just getting fatter and fatter. The stems are nice and maturing well. Able to hold the weight so far.

I would like to pinch them, for two top colas, but I dont know if thats such a good idea. They really are twice as wide as they are tall.
Could this just be the strain? They were all out of the same bag. It looked like a good outdoor grow that had been accidently pollinated.

Anyway, some help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Can anyone tell the likely strain? Or maybe if its sativa or indica?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

The pic is a few days old. They are filling out more with all the first true 5 leaf's out, but still not any taller

They are indica. The grow pattern you are describing is typical for indicas. They all look normal and healthy

Definetely Indica..

And most indica plants will remain short and bushy

If you want them to grow taller, you can raise your light and they will stretch.

But, I wouldnt advise you to do this.

They look very healthy.

Its up to you to pinch em.. I wouldnt.

Keep up the fine gardening :)

Thanks Bra, Do you think I should top them? Im afraid they would just get fatter.
I only have a 3.5x4x7 foot grow tent and would like to get the most bang for my buck. I have 32 plants. Assuming half are male, and I end up with 16 females, will I be able to pinch them and still have sq footage and light coverage?
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Absolutely they can be pinched/topped and you will get at least 2 tops. But unless you are dealing with height issues you could wait untill you get at least 5 or 6 nodes then pinch. Pinching causes bushiness/width and not pinching causes the plant to go tall w/ one main cola. Sounds like you are more restriced with width in your space than heigth.

Thanks all! About the pinching. Have any of you checked out the very long thread about uncle bobs four bud topping technique? I think he says that there is something hormonal that happens at the fourth node that promotes elongated flower growth for the tops. I will re-read it and see whats up. But I think your right Brasmith, My issues are with width and not height. Im in a tent so supplementing lower light for taller plants wont be an issue. Knowing they are Indica is a lot of help with a future plan.

Thanks Again
