250w hps and fluffy nuggets

I have a question for yahs. I recently just finished my first harvest. I did Nirvana Short Rider under a 250w hps and my buds are fluffy and not the hard nuggets I was hoping for. What would cause it to be fluffy? Is it genetics, did I harvest too early or do I need a bigger light? I am very pleased with the high and the taste, don't get me wrong but I just want them hard nuggets I usually get from my guy. Does anyone get the hard nuggets with the 250? Do I need to upgrade to a 400+? I am hoping it is genetics or I harvested early. heh

When I grew with a 250 I would get similar results. Taste and high ok, buds too fluffy. Changed to a 600W and now get bigger denser buds.

Yeah I have been reading around a bit and coming to that conclusion. Others have been doing OK with scrogs and such. I will give it a few more tries with other techniques and different strains to see if I get better results before I make an impulse buy.heh

i would get hard ass buds with a 250 watter and some added cfls.... nowere near has dense has a 1k... but i would never call the bud fluffy.. sometimes high temps can make your buds fluffier

Doubt its the light here's my purp wreck at 41 days. Had a branch break while moving it cause it was so heavy. This is just one of the bottom side branches.

Might be strain or harvested early bt we need to know what and when, you should be able to get solid nugs with a 250, you can get hard nugs with cfls so a 250 should be no problem.

I am on ebay shopping right now. lol I am in a small area and 1k may melt my tent (2x4x5).:fire:
I think a 600 may be too hot too. I got the 250 to stay cool but it looks like I may have to go up to a 400 with a cooltube.

Are you under a 250w? My buds were super thick and heavy but it was all water. Once they dried they were quite airy but still nice. I want the heavy nuggets.

heres the trick a 250 watter only penatrates foliage real well for a 2 foot zone that starts right under the light. the trick is to keep shit in the sweet spot via scrogging, topping, l.s.t. a good growe can pull 6 ounces dry from a 250 watt grow pretty easily

What strain? It is up there Nirvana Short Rider. It was harvested at 70ish days. I think I could've let it go longer but it was my first grow and .... you know. Maybe if I let it go another week it could've tightened up but I have read about a few people getting fluffy buds with a 250 too.

Ok maybe I will hold off on buying another light. I have 3 more plants under the 250 now. Older one is another short rider and in soil but only a little over a foot tall and 2 northern lights that are LSTed and also kept very low at like 6 inches. Maybe I will wait to see how they turn out before I go spending more.

autos dont yield shit bro... ow far was your light from your plantss? with a good fan on high i used to be able to get mine 5-6 inches w/o fan and that w/o cooltube even

400 will give you denser buds....... you can still get good buds with a 250 watt hps...

I smoked some of my cola nuggets today. Wow, huge difference. Alot more dense but still not what I was hoping for. Two hits is all it take for me but I am a light-weight. I am trying to keep everything low on the rest so I can keep the lights close. I have a family pic here and some LST pics and maybe a nugget or 2.

i have pulled more then 7 ounces before with a skunk/bigbud cross, doing pretty much the same thing.
