bump in harvest time - +rep for experiences

so maturing out a strain that i've grown once before
good result 1st time, a lot of head and body, nl#5
in no small part due to community help i've gotten on RIU
this time i'd like to 'bump' up the body a fair bit, but not too much!
so i'm thinking 1-2 weeks extra over last time
curious if anyone has a feel for this
i know, 'check the trics', which i do, 2-3% amber right now
but i've found the experience of other growers is even better
so does 1 week make much of a difference, or is 2 the minimum for a noticeable change?

the pistils are pretty dark, go get a 10-30x magnifying scope and check your trichs
I like mine 60% milky and 40% amber

that would probably be quite a narcotic weed
this strain doesn't seem to ripen very quick, 11 weeks for what supposed to be a 8 week indica, and a lot of clear trichs
+rep for for the thoughts, one more point of view

lookin at the pics I'd go with one more week absolute max..just my opinion

i need help I'm rookie

I know it can go bad too if you wait to long. There is a 2 week window and your trying to catch the last quater just becareful you dont miss it all.
thank you sirs, this is good info, both seem to be leaning on the 1 week side

i was leaning that way myself, like you say don't won't to cross the edge

+rep for the help

well, all the 1 week recommends really make me feel better about that time
i know there is no perfect answer, but i will torture myself if left to my own devices

i've seen this interesting take on northern lights, at least on some of the 'numbers'
that northern lights will get stronger and stronger, the longer you go(
right now, about 50% clear, that's a lot of clear
but one week still sounds good to me

EDIT: and +rep JN811

Dude...Flush, flush and flush. Let dry out for about 4-5 days and chop'er down.
she's been on water only for 2 weeks
so maybe bit less than a week?
i'll be watching the trichomes like a hawk, they don't seem like they want to change that fast, but i guess i could be hitting the 'wall'
+rep for your experienced eye boneman, i really appreciate all the help i get here

With Northern Lights being an Indica you can expect a quicker maturation time compared to a sativa, the ratio of ambers will most likely develop rapidly from this point on and your 2-3% will become 15-25% in no time at all. I think Boneman has given the best advice so far, 4-7 days max with flush and you should be about perfect for what you want(judged by your pics without the luxury of examining your plant). Excellent job, great plant!

good info on indica ripening, that's what i'm watching for
i grew this strain once before, cut right at this time
it seems very stubborn to ripen, i think i'm looking at 50% clear
but i will check again today, see what the tale of the trichs is
+rep for helpful info

Sativa's generally have a slower cloudy to amber time once they start turning than indica's?

I'm waiting for my sativa to ripen now, and I have about 2-3% amber, but don't want to wait too long and have too many turn amber without noticing. I'm looking for 30-40% amber at harvest, but want to have a decent flush and am scared of flushing too late and missing it.

great looking plant, wish I could add something new, but it sounds like you are dead on with flushing for 3-4 more days and chopping. What about taking some buds now and the rest in a week to see what you like better for the next one? Is that possible?

i can tell you how my last grow went
didn't exactly flush, just started plain water at 6 weeks
this is when i thought that i was going to finish at 8
didn't cut until week 11! no harm from what i can see though, plenty of bud
and it was of course quite smooth after 5 weeks of water only

thanks for the look and suggestion
some do this, take a side bud and test, certainly no harm
depends if the cure changes the high, some cured buds are very different from the uncured, so it's not perfect
i'll probably just watch the trics, then cut when it looks right
