Light proofed ventilation

Ok so I am going to be building a small grow box about 3' wide x 2' deep and around 5-6' high. I was planning on getting a 4" inline duct fan to run straight up out the top of the box and up into the attic.

I will be growing 4 plants until flower where i will eliminate if any males. I will be using CFL's for lighting through both veg and flowering.

My question is, do I need to make some kind of hole for air to be sucked in? And if I do, how will I light proof it?
Thanks!!

Get a jigsaw and cut it out just use a drill to make 4 holes one in each corner
Then when cutting it out try and keep it as tight as possible to stop the light leaking anymore then it has to

Will be lining it?

If so then just use good old GAFFER TAPE.... Make sure theres no light loss at night if there is use more gaffer tape till its gone then put you lining over the top job done

On to the next problem lol

Yes you will do

Your going to have to cut a hole in your grow box..! And it would be easy with a JIGSAW to cut a hole out then place your fan or vent into the hole then use gaffer tape to seal it off so theres no light leaks

Uses the Rollitup profile
Yes, when you have an enclosed area, and you are sucking air out of a sealed hole, then air will be sucked in other places. You need to allow for that. The general rule is to have twice the area open for input as you are sucking out. IOW for a 4 inch blowing out, then have 2 holes that size open for air to come in.

An easy way to light proof an opening, is to put a short piece of ducting on it with a bend in it. You can also spray paint the inside of the duct black.
