run-off testing?

good evening,

ive been growing for little more than a year. my past setups i have had all the plants on the floor of the boxes. so i always watered, feed and tested them individually. they are in soil. i recently upgraded my my grow box. its better hidden, more lights better vented etc... ive added a tray and it holds 10 plants. i was wondering could i test my ppm run off of all the plants combined or would it be better to stay testing them individually? it doesnt matter i have the time to dedicate just curious

Sorry to hijack, but could you tell me how you test your runnoff pH individually? I have always been worried it would gunk up my electronic tester. And how do you gather the water for testing? My trays are rather large that my pots are in so the water doesn't get deep enough for the tester to make contact anyway.

Sorry again just figured you'd know.

when testing each plant individually, ever get different results? your best bet would be to continue testing individually, but if all have the same strain, soil, ect, testing as a group could give you a general idea of how the entire group is doing.

i take every plant out of the box water it in a tray, as i get a steady stream of run off i collect it in a plastic cup. drop my tester in a the cup and log the info. i do that for every plant. i have a 4x4 tray, as of tonight this was my first feeding in the tray. i watered every plant waited 5 minutes collected a little cup full of the collective run off. did that answer your question or am i totally off.

most times i would get different results, i tried to do an overall test tonight. the run off was corrct when comparing notes to the last watering. we will see ill just try it out and see what happens.

so if 1 plant has high PH & 4 others have low PH levels, your combined levels will show low PH. when you try to raise the PH,you will raise the PH on the 1 that already has high PH.
keep an eye on them & if 1 plant looks different, test each plant individually.

Each plant will react differant to the nutrient's that you are provideing them with a good test is pick 4 radom plant's and take a reading of each if all the reading's are differant then i would test the lot.A little work testing the lot could be the differance between ounce's or ounce..........................................tyke..........................................................................

thank you for the responses. i have 5 pineapple express and 5 cream caramel. i believe what im going to do is just do an over all test during watering, then individually feed them and test. if they start showing signs of deficiencys or stress ill go back to individual. but right now they are 2weeks in and they are doing way better than any other grow i have had. its a good start
