I have a good buddy that uses good clean Ash ash but I cant really see a benifit from it in my recipe it seems to be complete but it also probably wont hurt.

Sub, whipping up your soil mix now. Its stewing on a trailer bed while waiting on the blood meal and azomite in mail.
Your first post says one kilo or (IE 5 pounds). A kilo is 2.2 lbs though right? so use only 2.2 lbs for bone meal, blood meal, and bat guano?

I am using the jamaican bat guano it comes in a bag sack, looks half size of your meal boxes.

Also I had my ankle crushed and disconnected with extensive nerve damage, what seed strain do you recommend or this lifelong ongoing discomfort? where is best place to get them? I need to order your book to, thanks for all input.

I also added a monster bag of perlite, and I am considering dumping another 20 lbs or so of leftover hydroton to the mix, do you ever mix hydroton with ur supersoil?

Book and vortex-ordering both today, thanks sub

Do all your strains accept/flourish with topping methods?

thinking of getting the A-13 as well after seeing it at hempdepot; I want them to turn out right, and I dont know what the rules are for topping yet; all mine are currently topped and quite thick with future flower sites, but I have read a few strains dont tolerate it. I hope ur book gets into the details to fill in a few of my blanks...
What strain is ur avatar/book cover pic?

Thanks again for your patience with us newbs.

Hey Sub, can you post your recipe again?

Sorry, couldn't resist... :)

Have you ever tried a Mycorrhizae powder like Great White or Mycos? They seem like a complete waste given the soil comes with them.

Also, I know you've panned the fox farms soil in the past(at least ocean forrest) for making shitty tasting weed. Any idea what it was about the soil that did that? Too many sea critters maybe?

Thx!

Ratios are all off its to high in P IMO
I was given a massive bag of Organizm and when I remember it I use it but I didnt not see enough of a dramatic imporovement to make me remember each time.
Roots already has mycor and Macros so I think its probably enough.
I have read though some amazing results with the soil web boosters I just havnt seen it first hand.

Hey Sub,

First off thanks for the mix, I have some cooking and can't wait to drop my clones in it. I have one question: I used the recipe on the first page of the thread, it calls for 6 bags of roots. I basically cut the recipe in half using 3 bags and half amounts of everything else. On page 59 I noticed that you call for 8 bags of soil, but the nutrient additions stay the same. Do you think I should cut my "Super Soil" with some additional roots when I am using it? I was thinking of using a 4:1 ratio of SS to Roots.

TIA

both 6 and 8 work well with 6 you use less in the bottom we expanded the recipe to save some coin and it seemed to work out well.
10 bags is to much

Cool, thanks sub. I'll probably go about 2/3rds full with the SS and fill the rest with Roots. Its my first med-grow and I stoked to see the results.

Hey everybody! This is my first post after joining, so let me say thanks for such a great resource as this site, and please allow me to introduce myself. My name is J.W., and I've got about 6 smaller(1-3 plants) grows under my belt, the most recent being a Willie Nelson from seed using Subcool's SS mix, which coincidentally, I am harvesting tomorrow. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm hooked on organic cannabis growing and am always looking for new knowledge on the subject. I admit that I normally don't get on forums because of the time consumption, risk, and often-times old, recycled, or just plain bad information on them; in saying that, I joined Roll It Up for that reason -- because it seemed like a great resource full of knowledgeable growers. So, thank you.

Now, on to some purpose.

Subcool, I've followed (er, trolled??) your posts throughout the internet on numerous sites for some time, and I think you bring a fresh, new perspective for organic breeders and sodbusters like myself. I have a copy of your book on its way right now, and I plan on trying some TGA seeds in the future, as your genetics seem to be what I'm looking for. I tried the super soil mix one time, for my most recent grow, and it worked wonderfully -- so wonderfully, in fact, that it revealed what was lacking in the rest of my setup! I used a 160W Son Agro system, and the Willie Nelson grew so well, stretched so fast, and took so much space that even with LST and bending, I still couldn't train her well enough to fit well under such small light. The buds on the canopy directly under the light look awesome (with the exception of a few that dreaded or foxtailed from the light from being TOO close), but the ones just a few inches away from the source are fluffy popcorn. The fact that she was a pure Sativa didn't help the stretching or density issues, but what can I say -- I'm old-school and like the headies better than couch-lock, so I like the Sativas. Anyway, I forked over some dough for a Deep PL reflector, a Hortilux 400W (I've heard good things about the Hortilux, and have had good results with the Son Agro specialized bulbs), and a Lumatek digital ballast, so hopefully the issue of lumens and internodal stretching will be resolved on my next grow.

My question is kind of a three-part question, so please bare with me; before I start a new grow, I'd like to get all my ducks in a row beforehand. I used the right amount of SS last time, as the plant faded at the right time IMO. But, now that I'm moving up to a 400W Hortilux, will this affect when the plant fades? This is assuming that I grow the plants to around the same size. I ask this because, surely, since I will probably have more and BIGGER buds on a same size plant under 400W, the nutrient uptake will be greater and, hence, cause an earlier fade. . . right? or no?

Also, I know you've mentioned in the past about light pollution. I must admit that I don't know what this is, so can you share some insights?

Another thing I'd like some info on is the Krebs cycle. I'd never heard of this until you mentioned in one of your posts about your sucanat applications on days 30 and 45 being key, referencing Krebs. Although I've never heard of the Krebs, I have used unsulphured molasses in the flowering stage to add some carbs and sugars and feed those helpful microbes, but I can't seem to find any more info about the Krebs cycle and cannabis. Your thoughts on this would be useful. And thanks again Subcool, and everyone else here on Roll It Up -- I look forward to exchanging many ideas with you guys!

J.W.

Hey Sub I was rereading your High Times article where on the super soil and I noticed that in the list of ingredients you use you included 3 lbs of rock phosphate. I felt real foolish because I've gone threw this thread pleanty of times and I thought I had everything. But when I went back threw this thread I haven't seen anything about the rock phosphate. Is it something you're still using or is it not necessary?
