How fast does mold hit?

Lets say you start getting moisture inside the jar, how long until that turns into mold?

I jarred my buds early as i want to retain flavour, i hung dried for 3 days until buds were crispy, then jarred them.
The jars stay slightly open most of the time to let out excess moisture & let buds dry very slowly, i only totally seal them when im home & can check on them every hour, i let them steam up slightly, then open them for 20 minutes. I like waiting until i can see moisture, as it assures me the buds are sweating in thier own juices & curing

I guess im asking isit okay to let them steam up, as long as you let them breathe soon after?

The answer to your last question is yes--you can let them steam up as long as you then vent for at least 10 minutes after that to get the excess moisture out.

But it doesn't sound like you are drying them enough before you are heading to the jar. I have never jarred 'crispy' buds that then needed to stay open most of the time to vent moisture and when sealed would steam up that much. I would shoot for a 4 or 5 day dry time and then move to jars if I were you.

I'm not trying to rain on your 'retaining flavor' attempt, but it sounds like your buds are a little too moist. And you will be really PO'd if your last grow goes to mold.

Agreed. Burping every hour is pain. If u forget, ur screwed. Next time let dry longer. Smoke well..
