Growing in an apartment complex

I am going to be growing in a giant closet in my apartment. There are 70 units in my building. I am on the third floor. My number one concern is odor. I believe northern lights is the right strain if I am worried about the smell. I have no experience with a marijuana plant, so I really don't know how much they smell. Do you think the odor will linger and/or be noticeable outside of my apartment? Are the any other strains better than northern lights? Thanks

How many plants do you plan on growing? I have mine in a cabinet inside a closet inside a bedroom and smell is not too much of an issue. I do notice it sometimes though but never from outside of the apartment. The guy at the local hydro store recommended the Ona Block and it works wonders. About once a week I take a chunk off the block and wax my door frames/edges of the door and then I really don't notice the odor. The only negative about doing this is the Ona smells very strong, good but strong, for the first couple hours after application. As for northern lights not having much odor...I was interested in this also and I believe it's Northern Lights #5 that has little odor, but I have not been able to find this anywhere without it being crossed with skunk or something else that will make it reek.

You can buy Northern Lights #5 from High Grade seeds of Canada.

Here's a link >>> http://www.highgrade-seeds.com/seedlist.html

This would be the ONLY strain I would grow in any apartment.

I think an apartment grow is Very risky.. I dunno man.

Thanks for the link...tried to plus rep you...but I must have given you some recently. Growing in an apartment is not the most fun experience, it definitely raises paranoia levels. That's why I made my boxes as discrete as possible, but the situation is less than ideal and you still take on considerable risk

man only grow in an apartment if you dont have nosy landlords. also is your complex run by a local landlord, or big out of state company. if the latter, should be ok. but the other, well they want to make sure your not doing anything to damage or hurt the apartment and be nosy. also, make sure its some place that if your landlord came in, you could perceivably deny him access to, i.e. your bedroom, you closet in your bedroom. now this wont always work but just say you have private personal stuff. if all else fails say they are raunchy gross sex toys. who cares. them thinking your a perv is way better then them knowing you grow. also say your getting a reptile. like a big snake. get a cabinet and put a padlock on it. then right snake cage or habitat. or something like that. one most people are scared of them and when it says snake they will just leave. and if they want to see it, say it has a respiratory infection and cant be bothered. you just need to cover all the bases a few times over. also, dont get seen carting or carrying grow supplies into apartment. DEAD giveaway. and keep it small. just a few plants. 6 max.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't think I'm going to risk it. The guy next to me is a prick and the walls are so thin that I can hear him snore at night, so I imagine the smell will make its way into his apartment.

My apartment complex is an artists housing, so you would think people would overlook such things, but I know one of my dbag neighbors will bitch if they get a whiff of the stuff.

Get or make a good carbon filter. Maybe use it in conjuction with ONA if need be.

I live in an apartment complex. 1 month after I started growing, my apartment manager moved in next door. I am legal but don't want her knowing, and she has never found out. They even do annual inspections. Going stealthy takes a bit more money to pull off though, so plan on that.

That's the smartest thing I heard on here all day!!! Wait till you get your own place, or at least you are in a single family domicile. Too many people get busted that way! I was just reading on here earlier about some kid growing weed in his dorm and got busted. Only had two, 2 ft plants! Keep it safe bro! :peace:
