Billions if Not Trillions of $$$ for CA

If california makes the decision to legalize the sweet flower they will not only make billions by taxing it but imagine the billions of dollars they will also get in tourism. Because you can't tell me that they won't have a states version of cannibis cup. Millions of pot smokers might just drop everything they are doing and move to california. Now this also might result in over population of california. Either way this would be a great decision for california.

you don't hear predictions of how the individuals will profit - people saved from debt by a few landscaping changes..? people with extra weed money buying more luxury products do benefit the economy as a whole.. everyone with a piece of land to grow on could make money without relying on the mass market to hire them.. win / win

But on the other hand if it becomes legal...the black market would plummet. There would be no more "hustling". The commercial scene would explode with more and more people buying hundreds of acres of land and purchasing warehouses. Think about it. If its legel they can sell it in gas stations like cigarettes and beer. Therefore you would have to compete with corporations that have EXTREMELY large quantities of ganja, and their EXTREMELY low prices because of there abundance of product. The whole weed game would change....the seed game too. California breeders would take over the seed business...PERIOD.

UNLESS, they outlaw locals growing thier own. Now THAT would suck. As far as mega corp being the king of the hill, thats always a possibility, but not in every case. I can buy wine from any store, but have vinted my own for years. It's not only less expensive, but tastes better too, since I have FULL control of the whole process from start to finish.

Same applies to cannabis. You control what goes into it, apply lots of TLC and choose when to harvest. Now THAT's top shelf and something robo corps won't be able to do as easy. They will use nasty ass chemicals and rush thru everything, probably putting MORE additives in with it to say their brand is 'special' . Yawn.

i heard on the radio yesterday that at about one oclock yesterday they voted on it. it was stated on the radio that it will be sold like alcohol. you must be 21 to buy it or possess. you can grow it and sell and for every ounce sold you must give california 50 dollars. remember this will be highly regulated like tobacco or alcohol and just like like alcohol or tobacco you can make or grow your own. it would obviously take cali straight out of debt almost overnight it would seem. and dont forget back in the 90's the company phillip morris got a patent for a box used to carry marijuana similar to a pack of cigarettes just differnet colors and words. i hope it passes. in all reality marijuana could raise usa out of debt not just smoking but pot is used to make paper and cloth and loads of other things from hemp. it could provide more jobs and we can quit relying on china for most of our stuff we could make a good bit of it here.

i have not heard about another vote on AB-2254 since january when the health and safety board gave it a thumbs up.. it will for sure be on the california ballot in november..

living in california - i can tell you that the attitude is all in favor of the home growers - there will be a license fee if you want to grow above board for profit - that might be pretty steep to start with - something like $2500 to start up and $1000 a year to be a producer.. but, i'll bet even that goes way down when things settle into the legal paradigm..

yes it would bring alot of money to ca, but not too its people, right now we dont pay taxes on the street, if we could get it in the store people who provide for themselves and their family would be run out of bizness by the goverment, dont legalize it just decriminalize it, the goverment makes enough money off the taxes for the things we buy while we are high, they dont need to get taxes off the actual product..think bout it you add taxes and the goverment all of a sudden the street market is gone and the prices skyrocket due to the goveremtn making all their fees and what not

the amsterdam crowd are mostly germans and other euros i believe - they actually like keeping it mostly for the locals.. i can't wait to see cali become a mecca for legit weed.. for a while it will be funny - north shore tahoe will have no weed while little south shore casinos have it all.. lol...

We as stoners have been battling the same point over and over. That it is a natural potentially harmless plant. That it is safer then cigs and alcohol.. even salvia. That with proper state control we can tax it and lessen our deficit. That it will weaken the cartels and add thousands of jobs in the cultivation of hemp and its products. That we as a people have rights given to us by the constitution to put in our body what we please.

The problem we face today with this November ballot especially is the fact that we have to see eye for eye with the people that do not use marijuana. With all the propaganda throught the ages it is set in stone with a lot of people that its a gateway drug. But in all reality its just the first drug somebody does that makes something gateway. If marijuana didn't exist kids would just drink cough syrup or try cigarettes or alcohol. In my personal case alcohol was the gateway substance to cocaine. and i used alcohol before marijuana.

Next, parents would say NO... for the kids of course. Those who oppose the ballot have the argument that it will be easier for kids to get it. I personal think that's bullshiz. It was way easier for me to get MJ in high school then it was to get alcohol. Because there's no black market for alcohol. If it was legalized wed all but wipe out the black market for MJ in California and it would make it even harder for kids to find it. imagine a kid standing outside a now legalized dispensary " hey man, can you get me a pack of joints" People are scared to death to by alcohol for under age kids these days given the penalties. Also if they try to argue the fact they can steal it from there parents.. i much rather have my kid steal weed then my xanax or painkillers.

Next, you know law enforcement is going to take a stand. Mostly because federal government will probably encourage them to do so. but imagine how much free time and money the police would have if they didn't have to spend money on the pursuit of marijuana. It will free up tax money to go after hardened drugs and criminals. When you think of the incarceration costs of housing a prisoner and then times it by all the bullshit convictions some poor sap gets for having over a oz on him. It adds up.

Last, the uneducated people who have never tried a "marijuana cigarette" They will see that on the ballot and for the most part will stick with what they learned in school.. Say no to drugs. a majority of people will stick with that, the mentality "well i don't need" it or "look at what alcohol has done to this country".

Its a uphill battle. that we will probably lose the first time around. Just wait.. in a few more months the TV is going to be flooded with commercials.. more against then for. Those who oppose are going to get all sorts of funding from the cotton industry, churches, federal government, may be even the cartels.. you never know.

Sorry for the long as rant. I'm baked and proud of it.

many parents already are aware that the true danger of weed is the police.. i think like 97% of parents would rather that their child was not arrested.. and again - the fact is that tax and regulation would lead to less minors having access to weed.. that is vital - the prohibitionists keep saying that legalization will lead to more use and it is simply wrong.. look at any of the evidence from other parts of the world..

I completely agree. On that same note.. it is very unfortunate that "parents" are going to be the mass majority vote. We have these commercials that use children as the #1 reason to keep it illegal. Even those stupid 30 second clips were it shows a good kid turned bad because of marijuana is enough to stick in somebody's mind. There not going to do any research or go into deep thought about this one. its going to be black and white. yes or no. Theres this guy from Washington that sais we are down 70% in high school use of marijuana since the 70's... I am recently out of high school and the reason for that is because there is a plethora of new drugs out there kids are doing. Kids these days are into designer drugs or even taking a pack of corciden. they haven't lowered the amount of usage of marijuana by high school students because there winning the drug war, they only risen the amount of different drugs done

i kind of think that the average stoner is going to watch what is done to weed in general and if they plan to consume any amount of it.. no mutant weed thanks..! they can splice it and give it insane food or whatever to make it impressive, but i have a feeling they will just raise basic large fields and chop them up into a product akin to cigarette tobacco.. it will be all about the local growers to supply fresh buds i think.. i could be wrong - people do want buds and not chopped up crap.. that could mean like a ton of jobs for people to raise and manicure tons of bud for fresh delivery! i like the idea that people who sell weed under the table right now will have the option of just entering the weed farming industry at some real, legitimate level.. perhaps you can climb the weed ladder and make more than before...

back to weed propaganda - i only see a handful of those commercials and i watch like 3 hours a day.. the commercials probably re-enforce what their parents and teachers told them back in like 1955 how they would go on to murder their own grandma if they had a puff of the 'devil weed' as it was known to their parents parents and teachers who heard that Mexicans would smoke it and go on drug fueled murder frenzies.. so we are not that far removed from being told that “There are 100,000 marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. the main reason kids get weed before they are of responsible age is because of the black market dealers.. where are all the black market beer dealers? hmm.. i think i'll head down to my local speakeasy for a $40 shot of whiskey.. mmm... oh cover is $50 tonight..? maybe i'll finish off the night with a $20 glass of warm Bud Light..! hope i don't get stabbed in the neck for my remaining $40... aw aww - the strippers are doing blow off of my blood soaked corpse.. way to go prohibition...!

i am not a kid anymore and i didn't grow up in the city.. but, i imagine it is not a very safe situation every time a kid buys weed from whoever in this country.. i see a much brighter situation in regulation - kids will still get weed just like they always will get their hands on alcohol.. but, it will really be more limited - without the high black market price where is the impetus to sell to strangers at all much less kids? it would be like selling flowers on the street.. not a common profession right?
