ULTRA NOOB:First time Grow [afghan kush & Blue mystic](help needed)

Hello all, this thread will serve as my grow diary and this is my first grow..period. Since this is my first grow you can prepare yourself for some very noobish questions. So lets get started.

Before I get started and germ my seeds i would like to know where i place the seeds in the aerogarden...I purchased the Space saver 6 and it came with a seed kit but there aren't any plain sponges to place the seeds in.

I use park seed bio dome 60 refills or rapid rooters.

you can always germ your seeds between a paper towel.. just dampen a paper towel, fold it into 1/4's, and place the seed within a fold.. you can than put the towel between two plates turned on each other so that no light will get it and put them somewhere warm, not hot.. like maybe on top of your television say.. or you can skip the plate and put them into a plastic bag with the ptowel.. i like to leave my bags open, and place them on top of the cable box or something similiar.. just make sure to put something over top of the bag to keep out any light..
within about three days or so you will see a lil white taproot forming.. when it gets about 1/4 inch or so, you can than take them outta the towel and follow the ag directions from that point on..

alright sounds good, i'm about to start the germing right now and purchase the woolrock or peat pellet tomorrow...

What kind of lighting are you going to be running with? nutes? just some basic info on what you plan to do in this grow. You can check out my journal under grow journals. peace

to begin with i was thinking of just using the aerogarden stock lights and then adding some cfl bulbs as needed and for nutes i've been seeing alot of people using fox farm so i may give that one a try...any suggestions?? and thanks imma check out your grow journal right now.

Dude I just got the space saver 6 too. Im pretty sure you just take the seeds out of one of the kits and place the weed seed in it after germination. Then cut a hole in the bottom of the sponge. Atleast thats what im doing.

I was thinking about doing that but i thought that there was a seed for another herb in those sponges??

But if you guys dont recommend this. I have peat pellets as well..but what would i do after its rooted in the pellet? take a sponge out of one of the seed kits and somehow get the pellet in there?

ok fellas my seeds have begun to sprout so i have a few questions before i place them into the sponges.

1. once i place them into the garden, what light cycle should i be using?
2. how high should the aerogarden light hood be from the seeds?
3. how many weeks until i start adding nutes?
4. also is there a definite ph level for filtered water??
5. do i place the bio dome cups over the plants??

thanks in advance, i'll probably be in this forum all day doing some research :D

1. Do you have a 24 hour light cycle on your garden? You will need to buy a figure 8 power cable and hook that light up to a timer.

2. lower the hood to its lowest setting.

3. Wait till your first true leave are showing. The first two do not need nutrients at all.

4. Most distilled water is a little high for weed. Check your ph with a test kit or strips or a meter depending on what you have. Then use PH down or baking soda to lower the PH

alright that will be my next purchase but is there any way to keep up with the lighting manually for now??

also how much water should be in the aerogarden??
do i just follow their instructions and fill it until it is green?

There should be a gallon of water in the garden, I own four of them and grow peppers and tomatoes with mine.
The add water light is useless, it will be almost bone dry before it comes on. I have to add water to mine daily when the plants are really taking in water and nutrients.

which model aerogarden do you have?

I purchased the space saver 6

and sorry for all the questions but is it okay to have the aerogarden next to a large window or should it be in the dark when growing weed?
