Hey folks,
does anyone use flexible dryer ducting for ventilation? I ask because I have to vent out through a closet door, and my ventilation works great except that I first used the typical ducting that's more solid metal and expands and contracts like an accordion, but it breaks easily and from opening and closing the door repeatedly the ducting got some big holes in it. So I replaced it with dryer ducting, which has a spirally wire covered in some kind of aluminum/plastic combo material. This is far more flexible and won't split like that if it's bent back and forth, but it looks likes there's tiny tiny holes in the film. So I'm wondering: Is this kind of ducting really air tight? I couldn't feel any air rushing out along the duct, but maybe a small but significant amount escapes? I don't want to make my exhaust fan's efficiency go to shit by having it blow back out into my closet through the holes in the exhaust duct. Anybody tried this kind of ducting?
