Hi all,
This is my first grow so please be patient, I have tried to read as much as i can but there is so much to take in and always so much more to learn!
I germinated the white widow seeds that I bought from www.????.com ( is not a rollitup affiliate so am not sure if I can mention them but I have a feeling I should have been more selective!) using the paper towel method and planted them into a pre mix of soil on the 15th of Feb that had a PH of around 6/7. I will be using this soil throughout.
The Veg Room: I started with just two 18w (1500 Lumens each) strip daylight bulbs. As the seedlings got stronger I added 2 more 18w (1500 Lumens each) strip daylight bulbs. By the third week I added 2 65w (4500 lumens each) bulbs to hang over head as I have mounted all the strip lights vertically on 4 sides of the veg room. The light cycle has been 19/5 for all veg stage apart from the first week when I didnt switch the timer on and it was 24/0 L not so clever hence why I went 19/5 and not 18/6 as maybe thats 1 hour less stress for the younglings.
I have a PH meter and all water I use is left out for 24 hours and has a PH of around 6.5. The guy at the hydro shop said to use this for the neut for veg stage and due to my 0 access to a hydro shop I could use this neut for the entire life of the plants! After careful reading etc I am worried so I have flower neuts coming at great cost (so I hope they reach me ok early next week).
The veg room started so weak and not really great but as you can see from the first picture (PIC1 & PIC1.1 & PIC1.2) for me now it couldnt be set up any better as it has 5inch extractor at the top and another 5inch pointing the other way to bring new air in via a tube so that the new air is at the bottom forcing the old air up out the top. 4 strips on the side with two bigger lights from the top and mylar on all 3 sides plus the doors.
I am sure I over watered them at the start and also had the light a little too far away as they did stretch a little (See PIC2) but once in the upgraded veg room they soon started to get width (having strip lights vertical on the walls really helped the growth on the sides!) (see PIC3 & PIC3.1)
So a few weeks passed and they kept growing and looking green and healthy keeping in mind from one week to the next I have been making improvements and making little mistakes. The new veg room really made them fat and the leaves started to hit the sides and the length of each plant was between 12 and 7 inches so at the week end I put them in the flower room.
The flower room: 4x4x6 feet, 600 HPS with fan pointing at the bulb, large extractor at the top and on the opposite side a large flap with fan outside blowing on the plants and introducing new air. Also I have a 5inch extractor with a long tube (could be better if I could get it in a straight line as its not powerful as I would have liked!) still that supplies fresh air from the outside right to the plants at pot level which I thought would help with CO2 replacement. The temp in here is ranging from 19 degrees in the night to a max of 28 in the day. I have a dehumidifier in the outer room where the air supply comes from so that is always around 45% to 60%. All four sides are Mylar with the roof and floor in a dark plastic. I was told that if i reflect too much light to the bottom of the plant it may get confused and turn the leafs upside down. Also i have 6 feet high walls so it didnt seem worth making the roof reflective.
My neuts wont be here for 7 to 10 days which I assumed wouldnt be a problem as I need to give the plants time to settle into the new environment. My apologies for all the text but as I didnt start my journal at the start of the grow because I was worried about posting my secrets
So my questions and problems:
I had 6 plants to start one died as I dropped the bulb on it but this was at seedling stage so was not a big loss. Out of the 5 remaining that are all over a foot tall one has take a turn for the worse! (See PIC4 PIC4.1, PIC4.2, PIC4.3 & 4.4) The plant is still green and looks healthy apart from the leaves have started to look like canoes! The leaves are strong I can bend them but they dont break! I thought this was a neut issue as leaves up I need something leaves down I have had too much so I poured 6.5 water through it yesterday to see if this would help as this is flushing right? Also keeping in mind the other 4 plants had the same water etc and they are showing no signs f canoeing leaves! (see PIC5). Also you can see its place in the flower room and sorry for having the HPS on but I was in a rush! Also keep in mind I moved this plant near the veg room as I wanted to try and get some pic you could see!
The neut I have coming for flowing is: Canna Terra Flores and for the last couple of weeks 16/18 canna boost accelerator. If someone has the time could you help me work out a feed schedule so that I dont make any mistakes during the flowering phase?
I have my light just over 2 feet (I did this slowly over the first 24/48 hrs to make sure the plants would adjust a little too the new 90000 lumens lamp) from the tops of the plants here is a quick shot of the grow room with the 5 plants in flower that went to 12/12 on the 20th see PIC6. Is this ok? Or should I get closer as last night one of the plants shot up by an inch and I dont want a forest in my spare room
I have a million more things I want to ask but most I can find via google, I know I have started my journal late but I will keep it up to date as I NEED YOUR HELP!!! I have 5 more WW from seed that are about 3 weeks behind the ones we are discussing today see PIC7 I am trying out some bending/training which is going ok but is more of a test and a backup in case I blow the first lot! Also my pics are from my phone I will get a better camera for my next pics but hopefully you can see a little more from these and with this much text you need pictures to keep you interested
More questions to follow
