May just be a nub question, but ive never seen plexi-glass used in a grow room. whats the purpose?
Plants look great too man

thats not a nub question at all, cause it isnt too common for people to do it like that. I wanted to find a way to lower my temps for a fairly cheap cost. I did some research before making my decision, cause quite honestly, I was worried about a loss of lumens. I am going to perfect it later this week, but I wanted to be a bit innovative.

The plexiglass has dropped my temps 10-12 degrees F, and it has also allowed me to place my light closer.

Though I have been very intrigued in newer L.E.D. lighting setups, very efficient, cost effective, and I've seen some dank results..

Ok awesome thats definitely an Innovative idea. I've been researching the LED lights they seem to have good results but the quality made one's are much more expensive then say a 250w Hps setup.

LED

from what I have seen and read, if you purchased 2 of those, you would be spending slightly more money, but they have improved in quality over the years. I forget how much a 50watt LED is equivalent to an hps, but it has intrigued me to keep researching. no heat at all. can be used in very stealth ways.

By the way, the plexiglass is still doing its job!! temps are right around 74F. Buds are looking healthy and crystally.

And I just saw Boondock Saints II, pretty badass movie, not quite as good as the first, but I was happy

Love that movie but yea first was better. so how did you rig up the plexi glass?
does it also prevent them from growing taller?

it is sitting like a bridge.

__________
[] [] ----something like that

I am currently in the process of upgrading it to a more stable installation.

It (plexiglass) is not used as a device to keep the plants from growing taller...its purpose is to keep the heat from the top of the canopy while letting light through. I have used pipe cleaners to tie down parts of the plants. My goal is to have the most bud sites getting the most light, now If knew what I know now, I would have setup things slightly different. Maybe even a SCroG. But yeah, tied the plants down, used to glass to prevent heat, and now im bragging about it lol!!

Well I'd brag too its very smart.
I will be starting a grow in august and so far im leaning towards a fluorescent light set up in a 4 holder. Where 3 are reg white and the 4th is a slight pink hue,
this technique was used in high times best of issue 2009. it said the pink made it more like natural sunlight in terms of about the same degrees kelvin( Like 6,000 i think or maybe 5)
The grow will be in a closet and i was wondering would that be enough light to veg and flower under. they had 3 of these in a flower room with like 20+ plants all flowering.
thanks man

im not too experienced when it comes to fluorescent lights, but I have a few tips that could help you decide.

this is what you gotta ask yourself before you start your grow.
1. can you contain the heat and temperature?
2. can you contain the smell?

if you can take care of those you should be ok.

when it comes to vegetation, cfl's will do. i mean my plants grew under about 8 cfls.... thats not much at all lol.

I kept those up until I purchased my 250w hps, plug and play pretty much lol!!

happy tokin bro

Personally i would recommend adding a few cfls to it, thats alot of plants for 1 250w. Just my opinion

I agree man, a 250 watt is going to light up a 3x3 foot area. Honestly, I would keep my 3 best and grow them. 3 hella dank plants, or 5 medium dank plants.. follow what i'm saying.

now if you have room to add CFL's then go for it if either way. Try to keep your temps low though, dont overheat/stress your plants.:bigjoint:

good luck and let me know what you do

thanks for the help. just saw your new pics they look amazing.
the heat probably wouldnt be a prob. but it will be in a closet in a front room of the house,
I am legal 215 so wouldnt be a legal thing too much just dont need piggies pokin around.
temperature im not sure i live in an area of cali that gets cold and rainy in winter if thats a prob or if since they are inside it wont matter.
Now I'm thinkin a small like 2 light fluero for veg and a 250 hps for flower.
not sure how i would keep it cool tho.
I was thinking the fleuro for flower too mostly for efficiency and low heat.

Anytime bro! what I did was purchase some variable speed computer fans online. I strapped em to the hps, and that helps keep it cool. You could also use a cool tube. 250W hps = 3x3 grow area. 2-3 dank plants. mylar/reflective material/fans will all help you.

remember heat rises so exhaust as high as possible. Just keep reading RIU and you will be good man. Dec 2009 I didnt know shit about growing, now I have become pretty educated.:bigjoint:
