A Change from LED to HPS- Path Worth Taking!

u still need a/c coming in ...

im not going to specifically add a/c cause thats too much cost. if the house get hot in next few months then we will run the whole a/c. all i can do is get a heavier duty fan to cool the light and use a intake fan to bring in fresh cooler air from the room.

so temp this morning at just about 10 am is at 71 with the light off. still got to go by the local shop and check out their fans and see if they have any opinion on what could help bring down the temp. supposed to be getting clones today but theres a large possibility it wont happen. im going to be running the flower time during the night so that will help with dropping the temp as well as a new fan.

Yeah I would go with a fan at least 400cfm
That one you bought is rated at 500cfm when it is used as a booster, not working alone

If you want to go elcheapo you can get a Stanley blower, it worked pretty well for my 400w.

thanks for all the input guys- i just went to the hydro shop and looked at two things. one is a 465cfm exhaust blower for 119$ and the other a 6" canfan thats running just over 2 bills. they have a 30 day return policy so i may try the 465cfm blower and if that doesnt work im going to have to break down for the canfan. any opinions on this?

ya thats what the guy said so im going to try that one out. its a little louder and looses power quicker if theres alot of ducting he also said. but for almost a 100$ cheaper it may be worth it.

Yeah just keep the ducting as short as possible with as little bends as possible and you'll be fine
You might want to get a 6" duct elbow to connect to the reflector, I have had the ducting constrict against the flange of the reflector because of how flexible it is
The rigid duct elbow would keep the air flow running smoothly with no constrictions

ok so i just decided to go with the canfan 6" 270cfm cause the guy hooked it up for 190$ out the door with cash. the other one i wouldve had to buy flanges and shit so i opted for the something thats almost guaranteed to work. hopefully this will take care of the heat issue. any opinions on having it suck from the reflector or blow into the reflector?

Most everything you read will say to suck but a recent issue or urban garden had and article on how blowing was actually better, i might be able to dig it up if your interested.

MYGTO- thanks for the input sounds like a good idea to try both ways.

it feels like the blower is stronger then the sucker though but that might be different when its on the light.

It is better to push through the lights simply so that the fan doesn't have the heat from the light going through it
Pushing will help the life of the fan but most fans are designed to pull

thats very true. didnt think of it like that.

ill have the fan set up today and run the light again for a couple hrs and see how were doing on the temp. thanks for all the help guys!!

so pretty bummed. earlier with the light on and fan just hooked to hood and left exhausting into the closet temp got to 103F. after getting more ducting i set up the canfan with intake coming from the window and going into the hood. i have more ducting on other side of hood going to the top of closet and exhausting out the cheap ass booster fan. temp is now at a constant 95F. looks like im going to spend 30$ more and get the 440CFM 6" High Output Canfan. if that doesnt work im sitting for a while till i can afford a vortex fan or something else to help.

so i took back the regular 6" canfan and got the massive 6" High output one and its at a constant 91F a ft under the light. its an improvement but still have more work and stuff to add to get it better. ill run it again tonight and see what temp it is when the light will be on for flower. either going to try our best and run some plants with this high temp or going to have to wait until i can afford a vortex fan or something to help.

Can you put a cheap window air conditioner in the window and attach your ducting to the vent?
That would take care of the temp problems for sure
