Most common reasons grow projects fail.

Hey guys I have been reading the forums a lot lately and I have learned some really good stuff. I am about to start my first grow. I am starting out fairly small and I was wondering what some of the most common reasons that grows fail.

I know the basics like too much light, too much water, too little water...but I am wondering what problems that you guys have come into....I will be growing CFL if that helps those who are wanting to give advice. Any and all advice is appreciated.

you mean too little light? lol, heat,ph,over or under fert, lights to far away from the plants, bugs, equipment malfuncitions like the lights falling onto the plant and burning/breaking it or fan not running right.,lights too close, poor soil drainage, ......any of those. plus probally alot of others that are slipping my mind.

#1 reason- lack of insight... grower doesnt understand plants needs in general..

Growing cfl now and my biggest battle is light placement for perfection it requires you to keep an inch or two at all times which means a daily fight
But let me tell u my girls are appreciating the care, they are huge and healthy

#1 problem I see most often is ppl with cfls not using enough light and not understanding how to properly reflect the light they have.. All the time I see threads that say theyve been flowering for like 9 weeks without buds forming...

I just meant like burning the leaves or whatever because it gets too hot.

My first grow and I havent seen any problems yet except I have a runt and a couple of leaves with brown spots on some plants. I think thats normal, mine are 3weeks old, and all I did was make sure ph is good, air, water, temp (72-79f & 40-55 humid) and light. Im doing hydro so I change res weekly hope that helps good luck I SUB'd for more info good thread +rep

getting small pots to start. Get big pots for mothers, so the roots have room to expand. My roots are poppin out Im doing fllod & drain so im using hydroton pellets idk how im gonna change them into the bigger pot im a noob. I was thinking cut the small pot inside the bigger pot and just pull out, but I dont want to do that cuz I want to save the small pots for my clones. You guys think its possible to move my them with out cutting the small pots? Thanks hope my experience help.

I'm going to go with not enough light, not knowing that cfls are to be cool (bluish) for vegetative stage and warm (orangish) for flowering stage. People not using a fan. People over watering. (listen in nature they don't get water everyday or even every other day) So in the beginning I just water once a week...then as the plant grows i water a bit more frequently. Over fertilizing is another issue. NEVER use pre-fertilized soil. If it says that you don't need to fertilize for 6 months on the bag...buy a different kind of soil.

Usually the same ones who don't read a scrap of paperwork before beginning their growing journey.

And by paperwork I mean acclaimed literature such as Todd McCormick's book, not browsing forums and wikipedia.

I am very worried about the lighting...I am still trying to figure out how I am going to get them closer in the very beginning. I am thinking that I will keep them on some kind of chain or something that can be adjusted slowly...What do you guys think?

1.)Lack of botanical knowledge.

plants need stuff, ALL PLANTS need stuff. General knowledge of horticulture is often over looked when people dive into this hobby.

2.) Lack of funds-People dont want to break bread and get FUCKED trying to grow a half LB on CFL's, then give up because they only yielded 1/2oz per plant. Then they dont want to listen about CFL's being the partial problem because they got through the grow.

3.) Over feeding, over watering. Should probably be #1 cause, but this is directly related to my #1 pick.

4.) Unreal expectations. It takes time and commitment to really do your thing. People think this shit is just plug and play. And sure, once your system is dialed in and successfull you can leave it alone a lot more. But getting it to that point costs money, takes time and loads of patience.

5.) What works for some doesnt work for all. People read some shit online and try it. They should really be spending their allowance on a MJ book from the bookstore, and READ IT. F-people and their idea's of crazy shit. Some of it does work, do you really want to fail trying it for the first time though? Do it the right way, from square one and get educated before you invest/fail!
