Mitsubishi Mr Slim Ductless

Does anyone have these in their setups? I'm trying to get ready for summer and thinking of buying one of the Mitsubishi Mr. Slim Ductless heat pump units. They are not cheap though. The one I'm looking at this going to be about $2.5k so I want to make sure I do it right. When the summer comes the room gets to hot and I don't want to waste money on higher electric bills and would rather spend the money on good equipment. Now I have about 7k worth of lighting that makes all my heat. So I'm thinking about going to huge vented hoods, A/C, and probably have to add Co2 burner because I don't want to be exhausting my cool air. Please help if you have good knowledge on this subject or other ideas!!

I have hooked them up for customers. Not growers, but they love them. It reduced their monthly electric costs compared to the swamp cooler they were using.

Your burner is going to add more heat, may want to look into another method. Maybe the bottle, or sugar and yeast if you don't have the money for a bottle.

I use a portable a/c. I forget the BTU's and all the specifications, but one of the reasons I bought it was because it has a dehumidifier function also. I have mine centrally located in a hallway between three rooms, it blows cold air in. I also have a 12' fan sucking hot air out through my lights, into a 150 can filter, also centrally located.

If you use the Mitsubishi you will want to watch your humidity.

My Dad has one for his house and to be honest I don't think hes all that impressed. I'll get you more details later. I do think it's nice that it heats and cools, not impressed with the cooling performance though. Will get back with you

I have installed numerous mitsubishi split heat pumps. They work great. I have also hooked them up in server rooms which can get as hot or hotter then a grow op. The one thing that I suggest you make sure to do is get your flares for the copper fittings right the 1st time.
Or you'll be pulling the unit off the wall and trust me when I say (NO FUN). Its a pain in the ass when you have all the electrical done and all your lines are tied in including your condensate line.
If you plan on running a lineset down your outside wall they also have this product called Line hide, it looks just like a gutter system when installed correctly. Most mitsubishis come precharged for around 15-25 feet so measure out your line and make sure you pull a vacum on your line. Remember (NO LEAKS)

I can add a 2.5ton A/C to my house with a 12"x4" with electronic damper to blow into the room, but then is going to screw with the house. That is why I was looking at the Mr. Slim. You can get the Mr. Slims up to 22 seer rating which I like because it should cut down on the energy. How do you vacuum your lines? Is this a tool that I could rent? I can't really have a HVAC tech come over to do this

There are no brazing lines unless you cut, connect a piece to the line. All it is , is 4 flare fittings. Just make sure you flare the end of your copper lines good the first time.
A vacum pump will pull the moisture out and evaporate contaminants. Idk if you could rent one,but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

If you get one that is the right size and installed by a good hvac guy your golden all year round. I have done a lot of different grow styles (as far as trying to control the enviroment in this case) and i swear by this method. I love that it allows me to run a sealed room with open hoods and c02 while maintaining near perfect temp and humidity. my advice is to cruise some hvac forums. dig in deep. theres lots of info about installs and brands. If possable id get a good hvac certified guy also. dont know your situation but id go as far as saying its worth taking down the op for a bit and telling a installer what ever story you wish to get the job done right. there are a few other good brands to but i have personal exp with the mitsu...all the forums will say choose the installer first.

I have researched the shit out of this, but just wanted to see what other peeps around here are using. I know most people here are 12 using their closets, but it's nice to see that someone else is using this. I'm going to get Mr. Slim heat pump with 2 units. I'm not worried about the install as I can do it myself. I have been building houses and commercial properties forever. That is why I was more or less looking at the Mr. Slim because the install is pretty easy vs. 3 ton A/C with outside coil that I would need special tools.
What are you using for your co2 and what size it your Mr. Slim, room, and how many lights?

i don't like it! 1.) i don't like the idea of water lines hanging over electrical equipment. you're just asking for trouble. 2.) did you notice he made no mention of the ambient room temp? using co2 is pointless if your room temps are as low as he was actually bragging about coming from the last hood. 3.) the 12" of coil in that tiny rez just isn't practical. the rez for a set-up like that would be much, much bigger, and those tiny coils just wouldn't get the job done.

I dig it. As for Co2 I don't use it and it would make my grows alot easier in the summer.

What model of Mr. Slim are you running? As far as those water cooled things that you connect to the lights they look like a waste of money and time compared to doing a real heat pump or A/C setup. It seems like there's a lot of "Garden" style stuff that is crap and way over priced. Plus it takes up way too much room.

Hello anybody have any other advice on this? What is the highest seer rating on Mini spit system that you are running? Do people really catch their water from this and re use it?

i dont have anything going at the moment but if i was going to id run a c02 gen hooked up to my natural gas line at 1500ppm. id also use the 4000 btu to 1k watt of light ratio. i like 600w hps vs 1000s. hope that helps.

i have a setup from excelair. they specifically build acs for sealed room hydroponics. super pricey but super worth it man. you get what you pay for.

I love em! We have put in thousands for the GI overseas. (We used Chigos) They are quick and easy. They are very popular in Asia too. Over there they have very low prices. They cost much more here though. I was thinking about getting one for my room but I can get a regular window unit for a lot less. Too bad because I really do like them.
