Multi Cloning from one plant?

Im planning on growing a female plant and then continuesly clone from it before it flowers.

My questions are

Can i keep that female plant in a continues vegative cycle year in year out?

How many clones can i make from the mother plant at a time? Im thinking if i trimed it all down and got like 8 clones then the mother would die?

and finally can i keep the female plant in a continuus vegetive cycle just using flourent light in the blue spectrum? or should i use my HiD bulb?

Some people manage to keep mother plants for years, but typically they get worn out and rootbound and lose their vigor. You can just take another clone and turn that one into a mother though. The number of clones will depend on the number of branches; if you want more branch sites, you'll need a bigger mother. You don't want to neglect your moms. They need to be in good health to yield good clones. Cannabis is generally very tolerant to pruning, which is all you're doing when taking clones so you'd have to take a whole bunch before you'd kill her. I don't like to take too many though because it can stress the plant and stress can cause problems. Best of luck my friend. :peace:

Another thing that some people do, is just take clones before you flower, and grow those out, instead of keeping a mother. You can keep taking clones indefinately.

i was thinking of this method i read that if u continue to take a clone from a clone then eventually it just breaks down due to too much cloning, so i figure i keep the mother and just clone from her so each clone is always gonna be first generation

The risk of this is the same whether you take clones of clones or from the same mother. The mother plant can lose its vigor and health the same as clones can. Keeping mothers works good for SOG but most perpetual setups just take clones of clones. I've been doing it for years and have yet to see a clone lose its vigor. In fact, I think it's probably less likely doing it this way. :joint:

I don't know where you heard that, but to the best of my knoweledge, it isn't true. You can clone a clone as long as you desire. A clone is an exact genetic replica of the original plant, I don't know why someone would think it would "break down". Obviously, they can still suffer ill effects from disease and environmental stress, same as any other plant - but that has nothing to do with it being a clone.

if it's a clone it doesn't matter what generation. it's all the exact same thing.

if you are going for a clone before flower without a mum route just be sure to take more cuttings than needed if it's a hard to come by strain like exodus cheese etc

nice guide.

At what age you reckon i should let the mother grow to before i take my first clones from her? 8 weeks old enough ?
The Canna-bible says to wait until any plant is at least 8 weeks old before you start cloning. This is what I go by and it works the best IME. :bigjoint:

Dont clone to soon. I wait until mine are big and strong. Take my clones and let her revive with superthrive for a month and then take more . Dnt take clones from the first nodes. Take them from the second nodes. Wait untill the branches start growing them.
