Baster / nutes - I use a turkey baster to water the plants and keep my nutes premixed in old gatorade bottles.:blsmoke:

Tip - Either purchase a second baster to use exclusively for ph water, or, really, really, really flush out the nutes when you go from one to another. I've learned this lesson the hard way, my 'B' germies got a dose of something that was left over in the turkey baster. 2 have burned up, 3 are not having a fun time and 2 appear affected. So, I'm probably gonna loose a total of 5 of the 'B' girls. Major bummer / learning experience. A baster is only $2 bucks. dammit. Almost makes sense to have a baster associated with each nute to prevent any type of cross contamination.:hump:

UV coated paper - The plants in the box, which I lined with the UV coated paper are doing better than their siblings in the non-UV paper box, probably by a factor of 10~15%. The reflectivity of the coated paper is really nice. Just like looking into a mirror except the background is white and not the silver color of a mirror. Go check it out.

Day 4 of 12/12 - No signs yet, but I don't really expect to see anything for another week. Once I see the 'change' my plan is to increase the lighting from 12/12 to 13/11 and finally to 14/10_obviously my theory is: - The plant will not respond to the small incremental increase in the lighting time by switching back into Veg but rather use the additional light to produce more. *I'm probably wrong but there is only 1 way to find out, and I intend to have my question answered. :)

I'm thinking every pot smoker has a lil macgyver in them but that's what I like about you grandfather, you come up with some great ideas utilizing common sense, also I like the informatioin/tips, keep them coming.

What is uv paper exactly, what's it originally used for and where can one purchase it?

UV paper is a type of very glossy paper for printers. Technically it is called C1S_Coated One Side_there is a store in every town where the printers go and get their paper, they will have it.

I used 'brand X'_Xerox_I got a ream of 11 x 17 inches for like $15. For sure it was a good deal for $15 bucks. Earlier, I stuck my hand inside of the box and it is quite easy to see a complete reflection of my hand_kinda like looking into the hood of of a white car after it had been waxed. Light is bouncing all around the grow box.

Here's a link to the paper:

Eye Candy :)

Here is the clone stealth grow box and the clones underneath the Ultimate Ghetto environment, which is on 24/0_Thanks for the info Skunk.

For those technically minded, I used a plain $1.50 ceramic light fixture, cut the female end off an old computer cable and viola. Let there be safe lighting :)

Directions on how to manufacture the environment is ^thread a few pages.

More Eye Candy 8)

Plant in the background - Angel is just passing thru 2 feet tall. She is the California girl.

Other two plants are the Durban Poison. Annette is in the back and Anna is in the foreground. Both are approx. 11 inches tall and much darker green and fatter leaves than Angel.

You can see the blue cast the UV paper has. You can't see it with your eye but you sure can see it with the camera's CCD.

Enjoy

Nice grandfather. You say you premix your nutes and put them in gatorade bottles. Where do you store the bottles and for how long?

I do something similar and also use the turkey baster!!

What do you think of hooking up an aquarium pump to aerate the water while it waits to be fed?

Just a thought I've had rolling around in my head.

Hi Lacy, how goes it? Better I hope.

This is how I do it. I make 1 gal at a time, and then transfer into Gatorade bottles. I've got a digital ph meter, so I always check the ph in the bottles prior to watering.

I go thru quite a bit of water/nutes, because my soil is approx 40% pearlite. If I think the nutes have been around too long, I use them on the house plants.....they love it.

Probably not a bad idea, personally I don't think you can give the roots too much oxygen.

I'm the proud owner of 3_count 'em 3_turkey basters now :) Would have more but walmart only had 3.

Okay, here are the pic's of the clones after spending their first night in the UGE_Uber Ghetto Environment.

Presently, they are enjoying a sun bath in the window, sucking up the bright winter sun.

Well for lack of anything else to do_I just absolutely hate this waiting stuff, because you have tendency to 'out think' yourself and generally end up doing some pretty stoooopid stuff.

So, without further adieu - Eye Candy, but it is so sweet you only get one piece.
