You could send it to me. I don't have an electric bill so it would go to "feeding the poor" for about 2 months. You don't have to pay for commercials with starving children, either.

Hey, Guyz ...

Med is getting a sense of humor. This could be good news. Could he be drifting away from liberalism? As we all know, liberals are devoid of a sense of humor, so it must be true ... MED IS DRIFTING AWAY FROM LIBERALISM! Could a more rational political forum be on the horizon? :blsmoke:

I never fessed up to being only a liberal, I'm a conservative in some ways, like border control, keeping a lid on the national debt, Saving money instead of just spending every dime you make. When I was a kid, I saved nickles and dimes, now I'm reaping the rewards. Liberalism has it's place in a society, we must take notice of the less fortunate and help them through government programs, as the problem is way too large for private charities. There must be some control on runaway CEO salaries when people are living in cardboard boxes on our city streets. The conservative agenda has shut down all mental health hospitals and conservatories so now the mentally ill have to live on the streets and eat garbage, is this our fathers country? Hospitals are dumping patients on city streets because of inability to pay. Is this America. I thought the bar was a little higher. I am no longer proud to be an American and if you are, travel overseas and look at America through foriegn eyes, you will soon become dissallusioned.

Don't do that, I may have to send Simple1776 over to take care of you~LOL~.
Hehehe. Well I guess my point is that us poor people can take care of ourselves. You'd probably be angry if I accepted charity when I end up making over $50k in the upcoming year.

See, truth is... I have ALWAYS been in the bottom 1%. That's about to end. The funny thing is, the government still offers me free Medical Insurance, free Subsidized Housing, free Food Stamps, subsidized gas, free Monthly Checks (SSDI), subsidized utilities, free...NO....PAID college (with or without a scholarship), free meals, a free retirement/pension plan (SS), and last but not least subsidized "credit repair" (help paying off stuff I don't need. How do I know this? All these things, plus MORE has been offered to me. Why? The government needs dependents in order to advance it's size and rule over the people. Now...if only they would subsidize a BUSINESS LOAN....now then we wouldn't need these programs. Not the smart ones, at least. The government would save BILLIONS if they did it this way. Of course, it would give them more control over the free market, but at least we wouldn't have people sitting on their rocking chairs waiting for the mailman to bring the handout for that month. Now thats CONTROL!

BTW...I CHOOSE not to accept ANY of these programs. My Achilles heel, if you will, on this issue is that I was born into state-sponsored medical insurance and I would be a damn fool to call them up and cancel it when I'm making less than $15k/year. I can personally attest to the dependency of this program...which is why I choose not to accept any of the others. I have known many people who get section 8, and let me tell you...I have NEVER seen ANYONE get off the program and become self-sufficient. I once, some time ago, inquired about this program (I was once a liberally-taught public school student) and I asked about how people have the ability or the incentive to become self-sufficient. They thought I was crazy! Why would you EVER want to pay more for rent?!? Well, I later found out that there IS NO program to get people off section 8..NOR is there much of an ability.

I speak from experience, Marx. I'm about 9 months out from getting away from socialized medicine and let me tell you....I'm one hell of an exception to the rule for being able to accomplish that feat.

How did you get all those benefits, I'm jealous? So you actually have used the medical, I take it. And you would refuse it to all others of your stature, talk about hypocritical. And did you also use the schooling to further your goals, schooling you would refuse to others, Me thinks you are a giant hypocrite. Yes it takes perseverance to succeed, but a helping hand is just that, help. Some may make it a permanent goal, and for them, there is no help, but others like yourself may use it to better themselves, and you would deny them because of the imbeciles. Hypocrite, does this word have any meaning to you?

OK lets get some facts straight here.

All those government programs...I did NOT get. They were OFFERED to me. They were offered to me because people like you think that people like me can't make it. You know what? I'm doing fine. I know that I can make it in capitalism better than if I am handed bread. BTW, when I was a child I used maby $3000/year in socialized medicine. Now I use about $200. Less than the tax refund Pres. Bush gave you...stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

What you don't understand is that it isn't hypocritical. It's analytical. The fact that I can reject these handouts and appreciate the fruits and PROVEN economics of capitalistic societies has nothing to do with my past as an impoverished American and everything to do with how I believe the world should be.

I'm one in a million, who, through careful consideration and thoughts on the future can foresee past the next $600 check in the mail. I am a good American, and its about to pay off. I am no less equipped for survival than the next schmuck that inherits his livelihood.

Maby, if some beurocrats up in Washington didn't interfere with capitalism, we'd all be better off. Scratch the maby. You assume that I would refuse the bennies to all those of my stature. Your wrong. Just what do you mean by "stature" anyways. Just another CLASSIFICATION word, I assume? I think they deserve better. They deserve a fair shot in life. Not an EQUAL shot in life. Capitalism serves this best, and if you have a real Marxist argument for this.... go right ahead and pick your shots.

Also, who said I went to school? Unless you mean public school K-12. Thanks though, really. I take that as a compliment.

The best help government can be is to allow people to peacefully and ethically conduct free trade. No welfare check can top that...not even if you rack up all the free time these people spend getting in trouble.

Lastly, the only imbeciles in this country are those that set these "level the playing field" rules that are so demeaning....along with those that are enabled by it.

Dare to examine your heart before you cast the first stone.

From threat's above post:

"The best help government can be is to allow people to peacefully and ethically conduct free trade."

And that was the exact intent of the Founding Fathers. That's why, in the Constitution, they gave the federal government the power to PROVIDE for the national defense and PROMOTE the general welfare. In their minds, and writings, they knew that the best way for the central government to PROMOTE the general welfare of the citizens would be to stay the hell out of the way.

So I take it your for NAFTA, CAFTA, NAU, and all other one world trade agreements meant to reduce wages to 3rd world levels and maximise profits for corporations.

It comes down to this. People set a price on their time. If there was no minimum wage people would base it on where they value themselves. If Americans will accept $3/hour...guess what the fe they are worth? The question goes back to "what is ethical?" I think unethical is offering $8/hour and then paying $3/hour. Most people would agree that when a contract is made from free will, say the $3/hour clause, both parties are to benefit. The dollar amount is irrelevant. If I told you to build a fence for me for $3/hour...and you told me "nah I'll go to the welfare office" I'd call you a pussy. If you countered and said $4/hour would suit me...then we might agree on $3.50/hour or w/e and that would be fair trade. If you just said "yea $3/hour is good," there is no exploitation whatsoever. You agreed to it, and only you can know what you re worth and what kind of money you need to survive.

Bottom line, only YOU can set YOUR price. When government artificially inflates wages, they artificially increase the cost of living as well. It's a no-win situation with Marxism, Marx.
