I was wanting to make hash oil with 99% rubbing alcohol, how long do I shake the weed in the jar with the alcohol before I strain it?

I don't have the book in front of me as I type this, but I've read (and plan to try someday) you can make a tincture by using brandy as the alcohol. Personally, I'd like to try something like Bacardi Rum or something.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, using brandy, it's a process that takes like a few days or a week or more. You fill a glass jar with buds, fill the jar with the brandy, and close the lid on the jar and set it in a cool dry place.

You open the lid like maybe once or a few times a day to let it breath, and occasionally shake it.

After a period of time, you strain the stuff using like cheescloth or something, and the resulting liquid is the tincture (alcohol that absorbed the THC).

You can then take this liquid, put some under your tongue, and get high from that.

I guess you could use rubbing alcohol, but to make a true tincture, something that would be absorbed, you would use an alcohol you could drink.

But making hash oil, I have to admit, I'm not as familiar with and rubbing alcohol may be the thing to use.
