LST, Topping, or Natural?

If you are growing outdoors and you aren't paricularly concerned with how tall the plants get, is there any advantage to LST, or Topping? I've seen a couple posts that swear you get higher yield.

Seems to me that letting the plant grow naturally would give higher yield.

lsting and topping will creat more main tops wich means it can produce more but most outdoor plants if grown right will yeild alot with out lst or topping, but i would top at least

That's a cool plant Uncle Ben grew there.

But, like I was wondering, if you're growing outside do you yield anymore by topping? Seems you just spread out among 4 colas the bud you would have got on one.

Obviously, if you're growing indoors with height limitations it makes sense.

Which brings me to another question. If you do not top, and you're growing in a 5 gallon container, how tall could the plant potentially grow????

Last year i topped one plant and then left one alone. And now that i come to think of it the one i didnt top actually had more bud. But the one that i did top had some real nice tight buds.
The plant i didnt top was outside right from day one the other one i started inside and then moved it out. (Same age though) So i guess you cant really compare lol but the topped ones buds were a lot nicer.
My non topped plant was in a 4 gallon and got to be around 5 feet tall.
