Fimming is just inaccurate topping...I've seen no real advantage to it in my personal experience.

Does ne1 do uncle bens and then tie down the 4 shoots? Ive just topped mine at the 2nd node and am undecided whether to tie the shoots either down or not.

also i tried fimming and cut the fan leaves in half. Dont think ill try it again.

sorry back to the thread i tried fimming and wasnt really that impressed, prefer to top but am strarting lst now and i got high hopes for that seems to open up so many more budsites to light.

i used to lst then realised that I lst so much I am getting more smaller buds and that is work. I want big buds, Now I just top wherever I feel it is right. I end up awesome. This slh I have now on it's own topped developed over five colas. I decided to tie them down a little in flower for more light inside as she was veffed two months in dwc and is a bushy girl. So top then pull down.

i like growing it natrually,besides a little bit of pruning, i was wondering if puting up like window screen so when the tops grow up 2 the highth u want they will just bend them selves over and grow sidways automatically,put up window sceen and place the SOG net right above it so when ur ready u can remove the screen and start lsting it into the scrog net. but in my theroy with the window screen it will basically lst it self becuse when the branches hit and go sidways it will then alow light 2 the lower branches basically starting a nice scrog, ive come up with this becuase i have a small space i will be using and only want 3 plants in it, i want an even canopy, and im thinking thats where the fim will begin, i love fiming u just gotta know when 2 fim, how much 2 fim, and most importantly why 2 fim, toping is for creating multiple tops at the top of the plant in my opinnion, fimming is a form of lst thet makes ur lower branches catch up 2 the other ones, if i am wrong please shoot me, and what yall think about the window screen idea?

You are right. By cutting the top of the bud you were going to top off you slow it down enough that the other two catch up and then you have four. I think. Oh yeah you go low enough so that two come from that one. I think. I am tired. So it sounds right. Just cut low enough but not all the way off. Man I got a personal shame until just now I was having personal brain farts about fimming even tho I have done it before and it worked. But that is it. The pic is small but I cant get it bigger. The purple line in the middle of the green shoot is where to cut.




Your screen sounds good but you forget that the plant in practice is going to hit that screen and prob smother all light for below anyway. With scrog if you are not moving plants it is easy. Set up a 2x4 sqaure with two inch chicken wire stpaled to it. The, train as it goes.

Different technics work for different growers IMHO. My grow for instance...160 plant SOG perpetual grow. Forty plants harvested every 2 to 3 weeks from an area of 12 sq feet (1/2 of a 3' x 8 ' ebb & flo table)

I top my rooted clones 14 days after they are cut from the mother and then vegged for 7 to 10 more days before they go into flower room (about 10 to 12 inchs tall) and then they will stretch w/ double tops for a cpl weeks then slow a bit and then fill out. I get 40 flants with dbl colas that average 25 to 30 inchs tall.
Forgot to mention ea 3x8 table is under 3 x 600w digital HPS


But if I was only running 2 to 4 plants, I'd go LST Scrog and top all the new upward growing shoot/tops once before going to flower.
