Water cure for 1 or 2 days. Anyone tried it?

I love the water cure in that the buds smoke so clean and don't stink up the room, but it makes my buds look so whimpy and they dry too fast after a week long water cure. I was thinking of tossing them in cold water for a day or 2 to see if if they retain thier size and are not as smelly as normally cured bud. I read on a thread once that some gorilla growers toss thier week into a stream in burlap sacks for a day before drying for some reason. Anyone ever tried this. If not I will try it and let you know. My plant needs another 2 weeks or so.

Well if your not going to soak it for 7 days in water your not water curing. I would call a 2 day soak more of a water logging. I realize your going to dry it eathier way, however the point of water curing is to have the plant material break down and rinse away with the water changes. If you just soak it and cure it, you wouldnt achieve much decomposition and i'm not sure what benefit you would be going for.

I have water cured Multiple batches already and I have done a 5 day water cure and if was no different compared to the 7 day soaked buds. Okay, how about I just try 2 days and see. Never know, I may be onto something here. I was hoping someone had some experience with this.

im asking what benefit you gain from doing it this way though.

can you answer why you would rather do it that way for me, i feel like that may clear up some of the confusion for me.

so basically you want to have the benefits of water curing but you don't want to loose all the weight, the smell and the appearance. so your hoping water curing for less time will do this somehow? doesn't seem anyone else has tried it. seeing as how you seem already inclined and willing to do so. why don't you? oh make sure to report back your result.

Here is what I like about water curing: faster, no odor when drying, after they are cured the smoke tastes good, but the smoke is almost odorless so I don't have dope on my breath and the smell is gone from the room within a few minutes.

What I don't like: buds are light and fluffy so it does not have good bag appeal and they dry too fast after the water cure so you have to keep a close eye on them or they get too crispy. The final weight is about 15% less than air cured.

What I was hoping was that a 1or 2 day water cure will be faster, but still remove the smell and retain some of the bag appeal of normally cured buds. That's my motivation. Hope that clears it up a bit.

it wont matter, they will still look and be the same, the same amount of water in the bud will still dry just as fast. doesnt matter how long you water cure, and yes, i do have experience in this. it will not give you the desired results, except keep more of the chlorophyl and stuff you water cure to remove. meaning harsher smoke. once the water stops getting *dirty* when you go to change it after the plants been in there you'll be good.

Give it a try. I have wondered the same.

After the second day there isnt much going on with the water anyway.

Ive done a 2, 3 and 4 day cure. taste. like. hell. the two day being the worst and 4th being tolerable. 5th and 6th day is okay and is pretty much the same end product as the 7 day. I just like 7 days. It gets the job done, its quick as fuck, stoney as fuck. Why make it any faster >_< like a fraction of air cure time.

I just did it! Harvested my solo Lowryder and did a one day water cure and just finished hanging the tightly trimmed buds tonight. Total wet weight before water curing was 396grams!!! That is with stems and freshly cut, but they were trimmed tight. I finally nailed how to grow a good sized lowryder. I will let you know how it goes. The water smelled pretty strong but the hanging buds are similar in smell to a 7 day watered cured bud. Not very strong smelling, which is what I was hoping for. I will update how it goes.

here is a pic of the almost dried buds. They look and smell like a fully water cured bud so far. Smoke is good, and it seems to burn clean like a fully water cured bud as well.

While I'm not certain, I don't believe this will yield great results. 1-2 day water cures don't accomplish much other than washing off some trichomes and terpenes.

I've done one full 5 day water cure and during those days I monitored the PPM of the water so that I could monitor how well it was working. A higher PPM means it is working and leaching out things from your bud like chlorophyl and the smelly terpenes. I think you will notices (as I have) that for the first 1 to 2 days of the water cure there is not much going on in the way of PPM. The water is just starting to break down the cell-wall and allow for diffusion of the chlorphyl. On the 3 and 4th days I noticed a huge jump in PPM which means the leaching happens in the middle of the process, not in the beginning. The 5th day not much went on, which leads me to believe that a 3-4 day water cure would be sufficient. I'm not a fan, though. After my buds came out of the water cure they lost all of their delicious taste and smell and were much wetter with less of a buzz. It didn't even feel like smoking weed, which confused me. Not downing anyone else who might like this method but it did not win me over. Even my friends thought it was a bit weird.
