General Hydroponics 3 part nutriens

hey guys. lm looking for any suggestions with the feeding schedule using GH 3 part series(grow,micro,bloom). The general Hydro sites feeding schedule is too strong for my liking. also im going to add koolbloom to the mix. any suggestions on how much of that to use also????

Whatever u do...go easy on the nutes...Im using the same thing u r...and I gave my plants a lil nute burn...I flushed imediately for 2 days...she recovered from it... I learned my lesson..good luck on yur grow

Yeah I would say go real easy with that schedule you posted. I've been using the nute calculator on their website. I was using precise measurements going off their calculator and what should be 1080 ppm I was getting 1620 ppm using my water which is 10 ppm.

What I've been doing is making my mix according to the their calculator then diluting the mix until I reach my my desired ppm level. Kind of a pain in ass but it works.

I tend to go half strength with the nutes I use, but over time, it seems like plants can start taking on the normal recommendations over time.

I like Advanced Nutrients myself, but to each their own.

I have to admit I haven't really heard of nute burn with GH, but I guess too much of a good thing is the case with anything.

Always go slow and steady - easier to add more than to flush away

As with most three parts- During veg 3-2-1<parts (grow-micro-bloom) During flower 1-2-3<parts (grow-micro-bloom) Start at 1/4 of the stated dose for each an work from there. Its a good place to start and begin to tune things in for your grow enviroment and style. Just be sure to keep very accurate notes on your watering/feeding schedule. Its always very helpful to look back on what has worked/not worked in the past. Good luck on your grow bro!

honestly its hard to mix all these nutes, atleast its hard for me, i mix (15) 50 gal res every week. so i figured a way to cheat the dam thing.

call me stupid or lazy, but you know how you are suppose to mix each 3 part seperate? i mix the 3 part formula TOGETHER into a 5gal bucket and i just scoop and pour into my res until desired ppm, then add my bloom stuff, sm 90, ph ect.

yes im aware my buds and overall growth of the plants will be better if i did it the right way, i would be, if i was working on a small room or a few plants. but when working with big yields, and all that hard work alone, the shortcut is actually worth it. and i have had no problems whats so ever.

so in my experience, i shouldnt be recommending this way, but i just wated to point out that i do it, and never had a problem and honestly the difference compared to my lazy way and the right way is nothing dramatic.

and also, i dont go by that chart's ppm. by the time its my last mix, im at 1800-1900 ppm. yes my meter is calibrated. i dont have problems with chem burn.

Mixing concentrates together before adding water is never a good idea. You can get all sorts of lockuo/out issues. Glad it has worked for you so far. And also glad to see you did say I wouldnt recommend doing it this way! Every grow/grower is a bit different. Start with just the basics, add only a few things at a time. And before you know it you'll be mixing your own custom feed. The makers feeding schedules have 2 things in mind. Sales and more sales. Find what works right for you.

Do have the your bucket filled with water first, then add your 3 parts or is it empty and you're dumping your nutes in there?

empty dump. you could add water i dont see why not. i always use a clean bucket.

Really? I read an article in Urban Garden with one of the guys from GH and they said mixing the nutes together then adding them to the res could cause lock-out. At least I think it was in UG, maybe it was maximum yield.

But hey, if you're doing it with no probs. and you're happy with the end results . . . .

It's when chemical and elements react with each other and 'lock-out' and/or fall out of suspension, making them useless.

The thing about PPM is it will vary from person to person, depending on certain factors (cant remember exactly what they are). A much better number to go by is your EC (electrical conductivity). Most ppm meters also measure EC (make sure you get one that does).

As far as GH goes, if your using a hydroponic system I suggest using the lucas formula, as this is a tried and true method that many growers swear by. After you get the hang of things you can begin to experiment a bit with it and find which formula works best with your plants (youll very rarely find two plants that are exactly the same).

You can find the lucas formula by searching google, im a bit too lazy and dont feel like it lol.
