How to go about getting a refund or replacements from The Attitude...

Hey, all. Before I say anything, I want to point out how utterly simple it would be for me to get some replacements, if I'd bought my seeds from Speedy.(My new seed supplier)

If I e-mail or call them and word what I say very carefully, is there a way to get them to give me some replacements? I should note,... We had a similar germ rate with our Island Sweet Skunks, but we didnt buy them. They were given to me..

My problem is germination. my brother and I have a collection of beans we're germinating for outdoor growth, this summer. All our beans did good, except GHs The Church. First off, only 5/10 cracked! Then all but one failed to sprout a chute more than a cm long. They were all eventually put into rockwool, and all but one turned around and buried the seed, or just didnt move.

All my other strains had a great germ. rate. My SLH seeds were a near perfect success. 7-8! And they're from the same breeder! I got 3-3 Himalayan Golds. 2-2 S.A.G.E.s. We had a total of 25 beans we were germinating. All bought from The Attitude. EXCLUDING THE CHURCHES, together we had a germination rate of 13/15.

Has any1 ever gotten replacements from The Attitude.

Attitude sells the seeds, they don't make them...
Seed viability is the people who produced the seeds problem, not attitude
They sell the seeds as souvenirs not to be germinated so if you email them saying you germinated them you won't get a nice response
They won't send you replacements, maybe just add some freebies on your next order

They will send you replacements though if you bought the T-shirt or mug with the order for insurance

I DID but the t-shirt.

How should I word it? I know I cant just say they didnt crack.
I mean you could try. Say that you usually have 100% germination rate but that it wasn't the case this time and that you bought the shirt. They might not replace them as its meant to insure your seeds getting intercepted. You're not really supposed to germinate the seeds anyway but of course we do.

So, pretty much, I shoulda' just bought mybeans from Speedy Seedz. That's the only answer? I know that if Id done that, i could just PM Speedy, and I wouldnt even need to start this thread. I cant believe GH sells such garbage. I thought they were reputable...

I hope my SLHs dont turn out to be ditch weed.

I ordered 10 church seeds and had 100% germination with no problems at all, I think it was just a bad batch or your germination techniques weren't right

Whoa! Yours is EXACTLY like mine! I got this in a text message, and uploaded it to my computer! Hahaha. That's funny!

Yeah. I'm now of the opinion that The Attitude is not the way to go... Dont get me wrong, there strains are legit(Iwas kidding in the last post about the SLHs) but why would any1 from this site go there, now that Speedy is here. He may not be able to refund completely, but that dude always makes it right... Or so I hear...

Bad batch. My germination rate was 13/15, outside of The Church. How long did you soak them for? I can post you a pic right now of 5 Church beans that have been soaking for 5 days.(I change the water daily)

I soak my beans until they crack, then they go to a moist paper towel, and on a seedling heat mat. Just like MOST other growers.

Thanx for your help, dude.

*EDIT* The link you gave me is a how to showing my EXACT meathod, AFTER they crack in a cup of water!!

Yeah I'm having the same problem too. I bought a pack of 10 and tried to germ 6 of them. So far, only one has cracked...It's been 2 days, how long should I wait? Usually for me if they don't germ within 36 they never germ.

The think is they were all fairly large and healthy looking. Thought I got lucky. Next time I'll try speedy. His prices seem a little high though thats why I went with attitude to begin with.

Whats the point of putting it into the paper towel after it has already cracked?
You can put it directly into the paper towel and it will sprout the same except you don't have to fuss with it
Don't get so defensive man you are having germination problems and I tried to help seeing as I don't have germination problems
Whatever you do good luck

Thanx for your help, man. Sorry if I sounded like a pissed off kid. That was rude. I was planning to put them in paper towels today any ways, to see if that would help. I'll do that, now.

And generally i only soak them to ensure the seed has been fully saturated. i also leave them in the towel until they have at least a half-inch chute. I really feel I've gotten a bad batch of beans here, man. 13/15 is an acceptable germination rate. I think my method is ok.

Thanx for your help, hopefully putting them in the paper towels will help...

Soaking the seeds overnight in water is what I sometimes do. I think it speeds up germination a little, but soaking till they crack is crazy. Moist paper towel for 2 or 3 days will usually get 100% germination.

I would not let the root get half an inch long either. Too easy to damage. I plant as soon as the root is visible.

Nah I don't do the soaking thing. I put them in the wet paper towel until they crack and then in the soil. I don't even wait til the taproot comes out, as soon as it pokes its head out it goes in the soil.

I would just do straight to soil but I don't like having all the pots around since my space is limited. Only gonna plant ones I know gonna sprout.

You think 2 or 3 days? I haven't done this for awhile but it seemed to me like if they were gonna crack it would be within the first 36hrs. I'll have to be a little more patient I guess...

Both the Churches and the Island Sweet Skunks are in moist paper towels, in a ziplock, and on my seedling heat mat. They are under my light, because they're sharing the heat mat with my sproutlings. To keep the light off of them, I've put a dark towel over the ziplock.

Generally I soak them overnight, and put them in paper towels the next day. By then, the seed shell is usually cracked. Within two days from placing them on the heat mat I have a nice chute. I'll adjust my method, next time and see if I dont have more luck. thanx 2 all.

Just for the record... i still believe I got a retarded batch of beans...
