help me plan my shopping list. I will be starting my first real attempt at an indoor grow.basicially i need help with what i should buy to sustain a grow op in a 3ft by 2 ft space.i want to use cfl's and basicially need the minimum requirements to germinate/grow 2 or 3 small to medimum sized plants.i am on a limited budget so im guessing the setup will be quite ghetto but i dont really mind.i already have a few lighting fixtures and what not so help me out with what i may need to purchase.i have already succesfully grow outdoors so i get the general idea on how to grow but all the technicality of indoor somewhat confuses me. i will be using bagseed and and not really concerned with the quality of the bud just as long as its ighttttttttttt.one of my main questions is how many and what wattage lights will i need to sustain plant life indoors?

Well

You'll need something to grow them in. Small 'keg' cups work good for the initial start, then something a little bigger for transplant is nice

Soil - Don't use MG with the nutrients in it to feed for months. Or any soil that has the nutrients in it for that matter. Organic is the best, Walmart sells organic soil. Also pick up some perlite for your soil mix

Lights. If you're growing with CFLs, you'll need a lot. Humboldt grew a few plants and he's using like 20 lights. The sun puts out 10000 lumens per sq foot, so keep that in mind while buying lights. Most CFLs on the shelves of stores put out around 1600 lumens per bulb; do the math. Make sure you get the higher Kelvin for veg, lower for flower

Nutrients can wait a few weeks until it's grown a little, getting something for flowering wouldn't be a bad idea

Maybe a moisture tester for your soil, a ppm tester for your nutes.

I would recommend reading the FAQ.....

hey, thanks for the help but i was looking for some more specifics on the lighting.I already generally know about proper soil to use, watering, the right levels of nutes and what not having success this past season with 4 outdoor plants. But i was wondering is it possible to just use a few high wattage cfls in a trunk i am using as a growbox or do you need a bunch.i also understand how you need a diffrent type of light that emits different specturms for flowering (one of my buddys grows indoors and ive learned a bit so i am not a comeplete newb). also if i just wanted to grow 1 plant how many and of what wattage clf's would you reccomend? Should i get a timer+thermometor? how many lights are you using in your grow?

get at me dawg and thanks for the input, peace!

I replied to your PM

Yes, a thermometer would be nice too. Keep you conditions above 70, under 85

Timer is nice if you don't want to remember when to shut off your lights, but for vegging they should be on all the time so no I don't think you need one

Look at my grow, I'm currently using 8 lights

The FAQ will answer all of your questions man

Ive been reading the FaQs let alone other material for about a year now without posting.this is my first post but i have acquired quite some knowledge over the time and i had 1 more question: would 3 or 4 lights be enought for one plant u think if ur using 8 light for about 3 or 4 plants?

OMG wow if you really would've been reading the FAQ and other materials for a year you would know these things....I read my first bit of information about growing a few weeks ago and I know the answers to these questions

I'm not trying to be a dick....it's just obvious that you're lying

Once again, it's not about HOW MANY LIGHTS

I could have 30 lights, but if they aren't putting out shit for lumens then there's not point

I could have ONE light, that puts out 40000 lumens and would grow a shit load of plants

So it's a little vague to say '3 or 4' lights. As mentioned, it's about lumens. For the third time, do the math

Ok well maybe you should invest a little time into research and pay attention this time and you might learn something if what I'm telling you isn't doing it for ya

I'm not really a math guy either but it's not rocket science

also if i just wanted to grow 1 plant how many and of what wattage clf's would you reccomend?
hey pete, i used a 100w CFL on a couple i had (they came from the bush at a young age) and it seemed to work for them, not anything special but they still grew.
i've also found that you can get 125w and 135w ones off ebay pretty cheap and you don't need a ballast.

you have to remember though there really not all the best for growing/budding unless you got a couple of them (for your space you should only need 1, for 2 plants) but im still experimenting with them so i'll try an remember to keep an eye on this thread. most people i've seen on here are using the 25-40w ones and you need a shite load of em.

anyway hope it helps an all the best with your grow:peace:

how many lumens is that
don't havwe specs on those ones, but i'll give you the specs on my 100w

ok the grow light is : 100w and 6,400k
and the flower light is: 100w and 2,700k

so looks like i need another one (which im glad i ordered the other day lol)

and you asked a q in your PM but i don't think i answered it, yes a couple of smaller ones would be alright but me personally i'd sit them between the plants so the lower leaves get some of the goodness.:peace:
