Thx for stopping by Slab :bigjoint:

I am really leaning towards the auger holes. I learned my lesson last year when I got delayed with the tree trimming and uppotting from the smaller pots. The plants were 3-4 feet tall and in less than one gallon pots. Needless to say they were really rootbound and most likely stunted somewhat because of it.

I plan on starting in the rooters and potting them after a week or 2 into 1-3 gallon pots. Once they are potted, the clock will be ticking on getting those auger holes done and get the canopy/greenhouse erected. I keep designing/redesigning the grow area so I need to go with a plan and ber done with it.
Ok boys and girls here is the seeds that went into the rooters last night:

2010 OD Grow Final list

-Maui Wowie (Skunk)

-Papaya (Papaya (Nirvana) Citral #13 x Ice #2)
-California Indica x Big Bud (Afghani x Skunk #1)
-Vortex (Apollo 13 ((Brothers Grimm) Genius x Princess 88 x Space Queen
-Space Queen f2 (Romulan x Cinderella 99)
-Quirkle (Urkle x Space Queen)
-Black Cherry Kush ((Black Rose (Purple Shiva Skunk x [AK 47 x Blackberry]) x Cherry Assassin (Cherry AK47 x Kryptonite’s OG SFV bx1))
-Cinderella 99 pineapple Bros Grimm pheno
-Ultimate Chem (91 Chemdawg x Chem D) x Lemon Thai Sativa
-Hells Angel OG Kush (OG Kush x blueberry) x (DJ Short's Blueberry x chimera grapefruit [male])
-LA Confidential x East Coast Sour Diesel
-Jack Black (Purple Wreck (Purple Urkel x Trainwreck) x Black Rose)-Black Afghan (Taliban Shadow King [TSK] x Black Rose
-Apollo 11 ((Brothers Grimm) Genius x Cinderella 99)x C 99
-Black Kush
-Killa Kush

I may be able to squeeze in one clone of Afrack (trainwreck x afghan) if I have the room but with this line up I may just mother that clone. It is an exceptional strain which I have and have smoked. I gave some to 3 of my testers and it received exceptional grades.

My plans are to see what pops up within the next week or so and then start the process of weeding out the week and characterizing the different phenos for most strains.

I sowed 3-4 seeds for each strain hoping for a 50 % or better female:male ratio. I will save promising male phenos for certain strains for bx and f2 crossing or new crosses. Will also select nice female phenos for mothering or crosses.

Soon I will post the potting soil for the rooters to go into in the 1-gal pots. Once these pots have sufficient roots the plants will be sexed, sorted and planted in the ground. I will probably do auger holes to try to save $ on soil and amendment costs rather than do raised beds for the entire area. By my calculation thats a butload of $ for the entire area.

I have a little time before I need to construct the canopy/greenhouse for the flower period (sometime after the solstice; probably in august sometime or before).

Will be posting pics while I progress. First up will be the rooter nursery. I will try to not post a bunch of pics of baby plants or vegging plants to the excess. We sometimes get excited about our grows like proud parents and post a lot of pics of our babies. Who can blame us? Stay tuned

Great stuff GT!

You know I'll be watching this.

You won't be sorry with the greenhouse set-up. While all around me, (Hodge,FDD) were fighting & spraying worms, I had none! Ask either of them how much worm loss they had last year?

I could see the little *uckers flying all around, but they couldn't get in.:finger:

I'm going to use sunscreen mesh on all walls this year, for improved ventilation. Only the top is plastic. I'm building another one next weekend, for a friend! I saw the carports at Costco yesterday!

You could build 3 of these, to cover your 20x30 growing area. At $350 each, that's a bargain compared to the bud loss.

The plastic will keep any rain from getting to your precious buds.

Don't forget the zip-ties.

Good luck!

Peace
jj
P.S. I'm going straight into the ground this year, we can compare notes during the season!:blsmoke:

I got the idea and then saw you had perfected it. I had the wormies last year too, little bastards. What likked me was the bud rot. I will try to reduce the rot too with air movement at night during flower and the plastic canopy preventing dew from accumulating. I live near the ocean so the RH is high.

I am kinda bummed at the ratio of non popping seeds this year. Same method last year I had 20/26. Considering the CI x BB was one of the ones that didnt turn out again this year and last , there are still a lot that havewnt popped. Its ok as I have more seeds of most of them so there is still time. I have 17 in the promix and chillin outside. Says the overnight temps should be in the low 50s. I put the snail and slug stuff around them so they arent tender morsels. Here is a pick of the brood.

I went out today and checked the babys and one of the MS had bent in half and or was eated so I pulled it. On another note a CI x BB came up. The first in 2 tries. Im stoked. I have wanted to try this strain since last year. Hope its a girl or more pop and theya re all girls, lol. Also another BCK popped out so thats 3/4 for BCK. THe 2 close up pics are JB. They b oth had monster roots about 3 inches long out of the rooter. Gave the rooters some distilled water and put them back on top of the aquarium. Stay tuned

I went back and looked at all the rooters where no plants have popped up to have a look at the seeds. What I found was prety interesting. A lot of the seeds actually had tails sticking out of the seed shell but the plant just didnt emerge. So I cracked the shells and hope to see some plants come up. Secondly I saw seeds which didnt have tails but looked like they were ready to explode. I cracked them too and replaced them into the rooters. One seed of Papaya had a 3 inch root sticking out of the bottom of the rooter and the head was still where the seed popped. A several seeds, maybe 3, had popped but had started to dissolve. I removed these seeds and scratched and cracked some new seeds and placed them into the rooters. One seed of Ultimate Chem had popped and looked like it was trying to come out. Hope it does. If I dont get these to come out in a week or so I will replant and try other methods like presoaking and roughing them up with sand paper.

I had the seedlings in the sun all day today and they loved it. It was relatively cold (for here) and temps were in the low 70s or high 60s most of the day with high winds. The wind blew down a street light. I've never seen that happen before.

Well since I want to show a little of the nursery here is a pic of JB, who is the biggest plant in the nursery so far. I better get moving on the holes so when these get bigger they dont have to wait to go into the ground.

WHen I start to mix up my soil I will post the recipe again. It has not changed since last year. I had to change my estimate of soil I will need because I cant afford the cost for the whole area. I know when I calculated it out for my entire grow area it was too much to do so I went to augering holes and filling the holes with my homemade soil. The holes will be about 3 ft deep and 1 foot above ground. Im gona try to make them about the same size as the 20 gal pots I used last year just a little deeper. I dont need them any bigger, sheesh. 8.5 feet was plenty and I need to tend them so I dont want to have to have someone else over here to help me. They will also have to fit under my canopy

THx for stoppin by perkie. Boomer Im watching your grow brother. Looking good so far. Slab I admire you for you efforts to clone your entire crop over and over. Cant wait for the adventure to begin.

I didnt see any upside down but there was one where the root had no resistance and came out the bottom of the rooter. Without any back pressure the top didnt come out the top. I looked in on the rooters and one Black Afghan is coming up so I will put it in soil outside tomorrow to get some sun. I will wait about a week and then replant some seeds in a different way to see if I can improve the count.

This year my seed mortality rate was higher than in past grows, now that the little lady got here pool, I'm getting a greenhouse. 20'x60' would be ideal with concrete floor and electrical to it..

I would recommend a different size greenhouse based on what I have but I dont know your interior design (tables, isles, ect). Can talk later about it.

Looks like the Ult Chem is blasting off. Its much bigger than ones that popped out before it did. Everything is coming along. Im getting ready to reload some seeds. That last effort was unacceptable for me. Gona bitch slap those seeds and get them to pop out of the shells. Im hoping for a better crop to select girls from and boys to shuck pollen with. If I dont get what I want male wise then I will have to send out for pollen. I think I know a few people who have some good fire pollen. Weekly pics on Wed of the nursery
