Male or female?

I've just got one question. I'm planning on growing. After my seedlings sprout, (I don't have any access to clones unfortunately) when will I be able to tell if they are males or females?

you're in the outdoor growing section - you can't tell sex naturally outdoors until autumn. you can cover part of the plant for 12 hours each evening until that branch shows sex.

indoors you typically cannot tell sex until you've been on a 12/12 lighting cycle for a couple of weeks.

grow it to about 6 inches then throw it in 12/12 lighting to sex it. shouldn't take more than 14 days of 12/12

Outdoors, you can sex them at 4-8 weeks, when the nodes begin alternating. Lots of images on the web for that. Use a magnifying glass. Females will normally have two pistils at the node with males showing pistils and a small ball sac. We usually hit a minimum 90% success rate and if we miss one they come out at flowering time when you can't mistake them.

Lots of good information. Thanks. So if I get a male plant, is there anything useful I can do with it? Or should I just throw it away?

Unless you're going to use one to pollinate a female for seed purposes (not a bad idea, you could end up with a nice strain) toss them.

If you do decide to produce seed, keep the male and female well-removed from your primary female grow.
