I will be there Jerry . I will be with the NCCPN reps . This is going to be a march for ppl to show their support of MMJ . Its not just in NC , but across the country . We need everyone that supports the use of MMJ to get in touch with a NORML or MPP rep in your state to find out where they plan on marching . THE MILLION MAN MARCH FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN THE USA . Oh, rock on...I've been sick as shit, but I'll be there.....I'll do my best to make local postings (in appropriate places) to advise and invite as many willing recipients as I possibly can.

IT WAS A BLAST , Just got back from NC . Had one hell of a good time . Really like Marching while burning right in front of the cops . Over 400 ppl showed up in Raleigh for the march .
Now the Bill gets heard on June 12 2010 , everyone that supports this bill really needs to be there . Get a friend , your brother/sister husband wife whatever just be there to help get this bill passed . There are alot of sick ppl that cant . I understand that , but those of you that can please do . All of you are patients or know someone that can benefit from this plant , so show your support by taking one day to show up and be heard . 400 isnt alot of ppl when you look at the size of the state . We need everyone that is physically capable of being there to show up . Come on ppl stop running and hiding. Lets embrace this miracle cure . Lets stand as a united ppl to get HB1380 passed .

OK, I "the enthusiastic one" didn't show. Circumstances were beyond my control that day, but I truly hate I didn't get to take part in any of it.
I can't believe people sparked up in front of the police.
....at the same time, isn't it what we all really need to do?
As for the June 12th vote, I don't know how I feel about standing up in front of Bev to announce my identity and speak wholeheartedly on the topic of MMJ. On the right day, I'd be on fire and efficiently convey the strong message that evidently needs to be pounded into some who are adamantly against......
I can't help but wonder just how many are already prepared to speak that day...or for that matter, just how many they will a lot time for.
I have no tentative plans to attend, but I would hate if everyone else was relying on the next to speak up for "their" personal cause.
I feel a need to be there just in case there are not enough bold enough to speak up for what is not only a worthy cause, but an innocent one.
Legalization is long overdue and I'm in no mood to wait for them to prepare a new bill in the event their findings are that MMJ is nothing short of a joke.
So.....time of vote will take place at what time on the 12th?

Hummm why did everyone get so quiet ? Just goes to show how bad you want the bill passed . If the bill passes its because of the ones that stood up for you and your rights , not the one sitting on the couch burning one .

Hello, I am new to this site, however Im not new to MMJ. I have been a NC resident my entire life, I had moved to Michigan last year and while I was living there I went threw the MMJ card process. I am now home in NC and thanking the good lord that NC bill H1380 is written the way it is
and hoping and praying that it passes. I would love to be a part of the vote on the 12th. If anyone has information on where people are planing to meet, maybee a time or possibly the address of when and where to be it would help my efforts in making a planed adventure. Thanks. GOOD LORD PLEASE ALLOW US THE PASSING OF BILL H1380 AMEN !!!!!!

Hell Yea , thats what I'm talking about . June 12 is the vote . Got that information from Perry Parks himself . Now with the writer of the Bill losing the election we will need everybody to show up at the state capital on the June 12 . We have to show support of HB1380 and HB1383 . Jerry the more you can muster the better . Babs I'm still working on the time . Will have that information soon . Please if you live in NC then come show your support of HB1380 and stop smoking in the shadows .

Senators Martin Looney (D-New Haven), the Senate Majority Leader, and Toni Harp (D-New Haven), chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, introduced SB 349 in 2009. If enacted, it would have made the penalty for possessing less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana an infraction rather than an unclassified misdemeanor, punishable only by a $250 fine. Currently, possession of less than an ounce can result in a fine of up to $1,000 and up to a year in jail for the first offense. A second offense is considered a felony and is punishable by up to five years in jail.
An amended version of the bill actually passed the Joint Judiciary Committee. Unfortunately, it died when the Finance Committee failed to vote on the bill before the deadline.
Two medical marijuana bills were once again introduced during the 2009 session. Rep. Penny Bacchiochi (R-Sommers) introduced HB 6156 and Rep. Mary Mushinsky (D-Wallingford) introduced HB 5175. Neither bill received a public hearing and it's unlikely that medical marijuana bills will move forward before there's a new governor.
In 2007, Connecticut came very close to ending its cruel criminalization of medical marijuana patients. The medical marijuana bill passed five legislative committees and the full House and Senate; however, Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) vetoed it. Although more than 60% of Connecticut's legislators voted in favor of the bill, two-thirds of each chamber is necessary to override a veto, and a veto-override vote didn't occur.
Gov. Rell's reasoning for continuing Connecticut's cruel practice of arresting seriously ill patients was convoluted. One of the reasons she stated for her veto was that "the bill also requires that patients or primary caregivers engage in illegal activity to use marijuana." While she's correct that marijuana use would remain a crime under federal law, 99% of all marijuana arrests occur by state and local police, meaning that passing this law would have effectively eliminated the threat of arrest for these patients trying to relieve their suffering.
Also in her veto statement, Gov. Rell concluded: "I am also concerned that this bill would send the wrong message to our youth." This is remarkable because an MPP analysis of government data shows that state medical marijuana laws do not increase teen use of marijuana. In fact, all medical marijuana states with before-and-after data available have reported overall decreases, exceeding 50% in some age groups, strongly suggesting that enactment of state medical marijuana laws does not increase teen marijuana use. Overall teen marijuana use in these states has decreased at greater rates than the national average.
A Better Way Foundation and the Drug Policy Alliance are leading the effort to pass marijuana policy reform legislation in Connecticut.
