How hard to get medical card

I'm thinking about moving to California or another state where medical cannabis is legal since I have Bi-polar disorder and a disorder affecting my social skills, coordination, and sensitivity to my five senses: sensory issues.

How hard would it be for me to get a medical cannabis license in California and/or other medical marijuana states? The marijuana helps level my moods, put my thoughts together and be more optimistic, and it also helps with my sensitivity to sensory stimuli. I have documentation or my disorders.

What is the basic process? Maybe I'll go to a doc in california when i visit and see what he would think.

Thanks,

Peace :weed:

get your medical records documenting your illness for the last 3 years or visits which ever the clinic needs. send them to the clinic of your choice and wait for them to call. If they deny you go around to someone else...its all about $$ to the major lcinics and they dont get paid to deny people, so you may have some luck.
Bi-polar is a nobrainer and qualifies, but that involves a therapist and using their recommendation.

If you are Bi polar go to a Dr who advertises alternative med usually found in a weekly mag, you will be fine as long as you are straight with the Dr he or she can tell. whether or not you are the next beevis or butthead/

Yes, yes they do get paid if you are denied. When you go in for your appointment read the fine print you are signing. They get their money either way.

I would suggest that you find a chiropractor and have him do x-rays of your neck. About 80% of all people have a subluxation, this is were there has been partial separation of your vertebrae in your neck. Most all of us have this partial separation at birth, others acquire it playing sports, or even a bad fall. Have the doctor write a note stating you have a subluxation, take that note with you to a MMJ doctor and let him know how it may help you with your neck pains. Done, no need to worry about much this way, case settled.

Yo GanjaRasta, u could either do it legitly by going through the processes of ur doctor. Sending forms , consulting , talking about it then researching it. Then when you finally make a decision over a course of some time then u get ur med card.... Or u can go down to Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Francisco and hit up 1 of their 100s of doc spots thats all they do is med card. It will cost $75 for a year or cheaper for a half , or a couple months. Oh and as soon as u walk outta there u can go2 a clinic. It will be the same card and in the end you will be going to the same clinics so its ur choice.

I'm bipolar, I got my recommendation easily enough, the only medical record I had was the results from some blood work (checking levels from a medication I took once, don't even have records of taking the medication). Just find someone listed on canorml.org and walk into their front door.

http://www.canorml.org/prop/215physicians.html

My therapist (back in the day when I needed him) actually told me NOT to smoke weed, and for good reason, as some strains will really mess me up. But because previous therapists mis-diagnosed me, with disastrous results, I learned early on to be a skeptic and think for myself.

I told this to my MJ doctor, along with the rest of the relevant bits of my life story. He didn't hesitate to give me a recommendation. The one statement that convinced him most I was motivated towards healing myself was probably, "this is my life, and damnit I'm not going to let anyone keep me from living it!"

He told me he gave me the recommendation, despite my other doctor's advice, because I did the research myself, and he understood the position I'm in.

It's not just about the medical records. You need only to convince a compassionate doctor you have a debilitating condition (bipolar is life threatening) and that MJ has worked for you in the past, and you're motivated towards healing yourself completely. The records are only evidence of your story.

If treatment with MJ works out well for you, if you can measure a proper dose from a proper strain, you should easily get renewed even if you go to another doctor.

Honestly, it's really not that hard. Do it now. Just be honest about yourself and your life. The MMJ laws are there to help you for a reason. Trust, we all want you to be healthy.

Btw, my #1 medication (I'm bipolar too) is Kali Mist. It's like nothing else I've tried before. I use gentle indica strains as well (blueberry, god's gift, afghan, kush) at night to help reduce the energizing effects of KM, and so I can sleep 7-8 hours every night. :-)
